Are you going to rove the camp spot for Saturday night, or is it stationary in Ricardo?
Javier's next race is that Saturday. Might just be able to swing thru on my way home.
First request takes precedence so yeah, Ricardo Sat. night is just as good as anything else. Its unstructured until declared.
sounds like fun but i dont think my transmission will be back together in time. How would you rate that trail?
When we went in Oct., we didn't attempt this one but that looks to be the toughest parts. There was plenty of rock but usually not combined with climbing. There was always two paths, 3 & 6 (?).
Where is this place?
Eh shoot, I tried to paste a pic or a link, not my day.
Its about 30 miles N. of Mojave. Ricardo Campground is right off the highway and Last chance is all the wide open area to the East/North of Randsburg Road.
Search "Red Rock Canyon State Park" or Ricardo State Park(?).
That sounds like a lot of fun. Should my truck be mobile then I will meet up with ya. I'll keep you posted one way or another.
I hear ya. The only magic needed to "get-em runnin" is finding the time.
isnt that the truth!
Here's a cool map.
Better compare that to the Friends of Jawbone map. The State park has taken over a bunch of that area to the west and their idea of management is to simply close existing roads since that's less work and expense for them.
Not all of those routes even exist anymore.
Not that I like closures, but when we went in October, we didn't encounter any. That was Last Chance Road end-to end, the Schmidt Tunnel, and out Mesquite Road.
There's also Dove Springs out to the West, which I've never seen. Also Jawbone.
All in all, there's more to see/do than one weekend allows.
I just want to get out in the dirt. New lift, new tent; gotta try it out.

That map shows roads that I've never seen (having looked) and at least one that I think it the closed trail near Cudahy Camp. It is a great map and my CORVA/FoJ contact hadn't seen it in spite of their map gathering efforts.
Heck I don't know what my schedule will be then, but if I'm open I'd be up for it. I should be able to let you know by the 12th.
I'm up for that v-notch seeing as I'm not part of the sheet metal gang anymore.(just need some time to post Truckhaven pictures). well maybe not I'd like to atleast minimize the damage
From what I've surfed, Last Chance Rand has moved his base of operations to L V, NV. So I think that site has been abandonned, but yeah, Hell of a map.
So Let's go update it!
So that was a surprise for your FOJ contact?
All the pics I've seen are jeeps or other small track rigs going through tilted. I'm thinking that being careful, air-up the tires so they don't break bead, and take the full-size through at level beam. ???
I'm sure he hadn't seen every map out there, but I know that he's seen a lot of them. He lives near the skrewed up intersection at CA14 & Calif. City Blvd. & has a long history in the area.
Oops, gotta grind a little bit off the front D-shaft.
I'll be bringing some of my Nat'l Champion Salsa, and maybe some marinated collosal shrimp for the B-Que.
