Rumbles when I let off gas

no they make 208 slip yoke CVs, ive got one. your joints will be nasty and black and probably loose. shafts are balanced not to the p[articular truck but for the shaft only. they will go in any truck.

do this and see what the play is like. put the parking brake on and chock the wheels. set the trans in N and see if theres any up and down or side to side play at the slip yoke. if it moves in any direction inside the case, youve got worn tcase bushing and that could be attributing to the troubles.

The bushing on the tailhousing? I just replaced the tailshaft housing with a junkyard one, so that could be it, but this is the same vibration I had before I threw my shaft and had to fix it. When I had the rear shaft off, I drove in 4WD, and it was soooo smooth, just because the rear shaft wasn't there making the vibes.

Anyway, obijuan, where did you get your slip yoke CV?

from a caddy with a turbo 400. then i got it rebuilt with a full spline slip and new joints. any local driveshaft shop will be able to make you one. HOWEVER, youve got to be sure youre driveline is in good shape or youll tear up a cv shaft. high angle driveline has got em too i believe and tom woods. is youre main shaft bent? theres so many things that it could be, im going through them right now. and ive got to rebuild my case and get that cv in there. my pinion angle is now squared away and should be ok.

I have no idea. Way too many possibilities. Costs way too much money to go through and replace and rebuild everything though. The u-joints were brand new sealed joints. I put them in like a week and a half ago, and drove it maybe 3 times. Now it vibrates just as bad. Maybe my driveshaft is out of balance. Who knows. I wanna just buy a 205 and just change everything have custom shafts built. But custom shafts are sooo expensive!

Theses angle shims you speak of... what are they and where do you get them? Id like to get my truck to where it needs to be. I drive a patrol car to work so I have the Blazer out of service right now and not a lot of friends in the area that know anything about 4x4 stuff.

I would like to go ahead and replace all the worn out gear under there, but want to have it running good before I get "luxuary" items.

Oh yeah I changed the U-joints, but havent driven it yet caus eI took other stuff off when I was under there.

its different for every truck. go check your angles on your rear driveshaft with an angle finder or similar tool and report back to see what you need.

When I first started getting vibes, I went to 4WP and got some of their cheapy aluminimum ones for testing. 4 degree should do it.

So this caddy driveshaft you have, what kind of caddy is it out of? And did you modify it any, other than changing the u-joints?

its from a 70s model if i remember right. its got stock 1350 joints and then i had the shop get a full spline slip on it.

Couldn't you just use your full spline slip yoke from the Blazer shaft? Just swap them?

Sorry for all the questions, but is the shaft adjustable? Like it can be shorter or longer? Do you have any pictures of it?

adjustable? i dont follow.

Adjustable length, like the front driveshafts. Instead of a tube it's like a solid piece of bar stock that slides back and forth in the other piece.

thats what the slip is for on the slip yoke up top. thats does the same thing youre talking about.

Dang, well I might need to find a shaft I can use if I can't pinpoint the problem otherwise. I wonder how much a shop would charge to balance my shaft since that could possibly be the simplest problem.

shops round here rape us on driveshafts. everyone else in the country has decent prices.
