Hi,

I placed a new gas tank and hard fuel lines in the rail in the 78 k5. I intend on welding in the rear so I have yet to put gas in the tank.

I made a hack where I could run the engine from some extended rubber fuel lines that go to the fuel pump. I needed to test the engine so I ran the rubber fuel lines to a 2 gal gas can. It worked well. Now I need to move it but I don't want to put gas in the tank.

What are your toughts about taking a 2 liter soda bottle and attaching it to the bumper with twine and bundgy cords and using it as a temporary gas tank. I only need to move the K5 out of the garage and then turn it around and put back in the garage.

thoughts?

do it, just don't have an environmental release or there will be hell to pay.

I keep a boat fuel tank around for stuff like this...

That's a helluva idea, nice job :waytogo:

I keep that tank and an electric fuel pump with jumper wires and alligator clips round to start up old junkers and stuff.... hook it straight to the carb...
Hell, you never know what's in an old fuel tank....:eek1:

eliminates a lot of guesswork trouble shooting when you are starting something up...

and it can be used to get you back to camp in a pinch...:waytogo:

they only cost about 30 bucks at a sporting goods store or wally world..:D

How big are they?
2 gal? 5 gal?

That is cool. I was just going to use a 2L pop can. Any sugestions on how to mount on a stock bumper up front.

the one in the pic is 6.5 gallons....

in fact it will serve as my fuel cell for a while till I buy a real fuel cell for the truck.... I cut the OEM tank out from under the truck weeks ago....

I drag one around all fall with 2-stroke mix in it, it's what we winterize all the dry manifold setups with on the boats... stick a bolt in the end of the hose when not in use...
