Ryoken's HF press mod build...

You may decide to pass on going to the ER but you surely can’t pass on pictures of what was making you think of going.

assuming you’re ok...

i do have cell pics :haha:

stoopid chit... hammering in shelves, umm, had the 5 lb, or so, fUrd jack fall off an upper shelf ( strike 1 fUrd! ), like every bit of 3', and hit me on the top O' noggin... :eek1: :doah:

wasn't seeing stars, but I knew immediately I was bleeding.. like a 2" gash... big shave job... couple peroxide scrubs, huge neosporin douche on a paper towel pad...

baseball hat on tight all night.. :haha:I cut the brim off the thing....

i checked after an hr or so, and it had stopped bleeding... definitely could have taken 5, 6 stitches prolly.. maybe 8 if you where being "pinky out" fancy Betsy Ross... ;)

it actually looks really good now as far as the cut/wound area.. no pink/red and the wound looks pretty darn tight... infection was/is all I worry about really... had a few antibio's kicking around, so...

I did feel ever so slightly concussion-ish last night... but I've had worse skating... felt fine today...

just a flesh wound......... luckily....

damn, used up that lottery ticket... :doah:

Most gas places for my area will swap to bigger just pay the size difference in price . Some get picky on neck name ring 1 shop dont look and dont check the hydro date ether. I have swapped 4-5 in way out of hydro . I got a few bottles :ROLFLMAO: :p

20211209_153043.jpg

yeah, next time i go, I'll bring that bottle down and see about an upgrade... i always buy my bottles.. but I have one place i deal with...forever.. Oxygen Supply...

for as much as i hate my smaller oxy/ace setup, I just can't justify my overcrowded space with a big oxy... but with this cart, the big bottle is perfect... and I use more 75/25 than anything...

gonna be really trying to go thru the LAB™ the next couple months and reorganize.. lots of wasted space..

I really need to get off my arse and sell some stuff.. anyone need nice 96 dudge gray interior parts??? ;)

anyway, just turned the heat on, headed back down after coffee.. :saweet:

here's how the base turned out for now.. hopefully the casters get here monday... I added the back wall for the box..

full

still working out the details for that box... wish I had a piece of diamond plate for a top door/cover...

next is to do the lower cradle...

Dude, how you feeling? Smack to the noggin is not good. Hope you keep a phone in the shop incase you did need some help.

I'm good, thanks.. got lucky... yeah, the cell is always on me....

got the cradle chopped up and ready for modding tomorrow...

oh, other LAB™ news....

the bandsaw needs love.... it threw the blade twice today... had to finish up the day with the cutoff wheel...

I had already did a 1/2 clean up on it last week to get the cooling system up and running.. but now I gotta pull the cover and clean/check the drive wheels, etc.... might as well make it a whole maintenance day.... I'm replacing the height adjustment feet with casters too.. tired of picking that thing up every time I gotta move it... they where chinsy and failing anyway...

saws back up and running....

for those that watch my stuff... ALWAYS remember, I can be an excessive kook..... :deal: :doah: :haha:

should have a good update tomorrow.. the current mods are WAY beyond anything I've seen anyone else do.... so much more of precise stout fit and movement......

just a couple pics of my psychosis... lower cradle build...

#CyclopsFTW #Kaibomb

2 biz card gapping....

full

cradle will have the outer lifting plates done tomorrow... they're cut already...

so all the structural, time-consuming stuff will be done for the most part, other than the box...... I think I have a plan for that... but part of that plan involves needing the break, I've yet to build... ;)

than it's on to the fun stuff, hydro, winch, etc... all ready to go on....

Are you noticing that Chinesium metal cutting way to easily. I altered a HF gantry Crain 8n my last shop. The welds and steel were really soft.

the welds have been garbage and softer than most mig stuff I've seen.... but the steel pieces have actually been reasonable on this unit so far to cut and weld, surprisingly......

basically I paid $150 for the 2 uprights and upper cross brace.. 2 springs, 2 pins... and a spare 20 ton manual jack backup for something... ;)

on a build note.... I'm going to lose the 2 return springs on the Jegs hydro unit, and just run the original HF ones.. than I can use those springs for the Break build... unfortunately I don't have any 3/4 round rod for posts for that.. it'll be McBible...

I'm gonna figure out a way to use 3/8" for the main brake press.. somehow. and yeah, finger it... maybe.. :doah: I refuse to go buy a 5' hunk of 1/2" right now... it'll be $100 all day I bet...

I have tons of 3/8" kicking around... 6" flat bar.. 5".. 3"... plate..

and I have a pretty good assortment of heavy angle stuff for lower dies/base.. albeit, some of that would need to be extracted from square tube.. :doah::grind:

I'm gonna try and do it as right as I can, for The LAB™... :haha: :screwy: :deal:

I'll do an upper clamping setup.. tapped holes, yada.... :pimp1:

it's labor I can throw around this time of year... but if I didn't have all this flat bar kicking around, no way... it'd be SWAG.. :pimp:

Don't know any blacksmith shops that sell scrap pieces?

Martin

pretty certain there are no blacksmith shops within 100 miles of me... ;)

I used to have a good hook up with one welder bud... I could have got a 2' hunk of 1/2 to 3/4 for cost.. but he retired...

I'll figure something out.... got diverted today... ended up drilling the base for casters instead of finishing the cradle..... and boxing in that front tray deal... I had a couple hunks of 3/16 around for it that where nearly perfect, few cuts...

here's a couple mockups...

full

the forward wall is angled for the bolt clearance.....

full

I'll burn em in in the morn... 3/16 should be plenty stout for throwing plates down in.. not sure what to do about a top.. i don't have material.. other than alum, and not sure i want to do that.. I'll add it down the road..

for now tho, I'll throw some black on the base, throw the casters on and that's done.. at least I have a tray for plates, drivers, etc now...

after draining almost my entire 5/16, 3/4" long bolt/nut collection, here's the base... for now...

full

off the top of the head, I would say it weighs 30 to 35 lbs...

a future foot pedal would basically be a plate welded to the inside, forward right leg for it to mount to....

here are tomorrows projects...

on the left is the tapped, winch plate to be welded to the top... the middle is the strip steel to be bent for the pulley brackets... and to the right are the stoopidly excessive end lifting plates for the lower cradle...

ready for some self-etch/paint...

threw a little on the rest.. tho there is a bit of welding to do up at the top still...

tomorrow I can put the cradles and base on for good.... than it's on to the fun stuff....

lathe motor showed today too.....

now we're cooking with peanut oil.....

oh, and I revise my statement a bit Wade... while the HF steel has seemed pretty solid while cutting, I did run into some instances today where I didn't like that side of the weld puddle...

Are you going to see if you can get a new Pittsburgh sticker for it when you are done?
