?s US Gear Dual Range Over/Underdrive

I scored this recently and have been having a hard time finding any info on the interwebs. I personally pulled it off of an 88 sm 465 2x transmission. Supposedly they can be either over or underdrive and one site said they could be installed in between trans and transfer case but I am not sure how that could happen. Any thoughts?

Divorced is the only way I can see that being in front of a case.

It's be nice to have on a 2wd tow rig if it's an OD.
Definitely have to be divorced Tcase though
