ive got all new bearings and races in my 14ff hubs, gonna do a final assembly of it this weekend, along with trying to get as much done on my 10blt as i can, last weekend i didnt have any tq specs and no internet access so i didnt get much done

was an eventfull weekend to say the least... the good: i got my 14ff buttoned up so its ready the install, the bad: the 10blt housing was in piss poor shape... 7-8 months of the cake mix sitting inside took its tole on it, took FOREVER to get all teh crap out of it, there was sand in the damn carrier and shat, so i had to take everything out of the housing and proceeded to then pressure wash then clean everything with a combo of brake cleaner and diesel. after than i began to sand down the seal surface of the spare shaft nick had given me since the outer of the original shaft was fubared in the area the spindle support bearing rides on.. well spend the better part of 30 mins on that before realizing the ujoint on it was frozen on one side, so i ended up sticking the original one back in there for now. also thanks go out to Mattk for hooking me up with a set of spindles after breaking even more of the race lip off with a slide hammer trying to extract that race, then chipping a chisel while trying to cut said race. well after that, i have the all pinion and carrier in the axle ect, i go to put my previously purchased pinion seal in and it just falls down into the housing.. great, seems the genious at advanced ordered me a rear 10blt seal, and nobody in town stocks them so it has to wait till another weekend. now after all this one would think/hope thats all that would go wrong, ohhhhhh but you'd be wrong. i went to drive the races out of the driver side hub of the 10blt all went well... pounded the outer race in, again all was well, beat the inner race in with like 8 hits... hmm. well i could pull it out with my fingers... yay a spun race. well pick up the pass side which was supposed to be in good shape, in order to get the rotors turned durring the week, well my dad say let me see and sticks his finger in and scoops out the outer race with just his finger, so im now as is stands short two 8 lug 10blt hubs :pow:

enough of the novel which was my weekend, on to the pics

as for this next picture... well my dad just got both mags and the carb rebuilt for our airboat so we got that all put together and my brother was about to take it out for a test drive when he discovered one of the runners on the hull was cracked and basicly rotted to ****, now we get to buy a new hull horray once again, we found a few more cracks over the entirety of the boat but this was the worst

hey everyone update time...

just got back about an hour ago... the gears are great except for some whining under deceleration due to probable non-spec pinion bearing preload. i can defenatly feel the difference from 3.73s and 36s to 5.13s and 38.5s. gonna look into the whining situation as soon as i can.

after driving the 2 hours round trip this morning i finaly found the correct u joint ... it was a precision 448

as for my brakes, i installed this fancy new MC that muddybuddy had installed in his k5, on his all he had to do was mount it up and roll on... on mine i lost 2/3 to 3/4 of my original pedal stroke and the pedal is firm as ****, so firm i dont think i could realy slam them if i wanted to making braking a tad scetchy at the moment, however it is still very managable, and i do also have around 1000 lbs in the bed of my truck. the brakes also dont seem to be letting go quite as fast as they used to.

my new w4m tune is doing good thusfar [knock on wood], only thing i dont like is that it shifts into OD at 30 mph and is pulling 1k rpms at that point

Why a bent draglink? Mines straight on the 88. And thats got about 8" of lift. Just curious. Looks like your standard K5 drag link. Wonder if that will be too long.

a member of another forum im on bought all of willyswanters old spring sas crap, including his bent xover draglink, and thats just how sky makes them so i figured getting one made like that was fine and dandy. and as far as the length, a person on another site had bought a draglink from sky for his sas and it was 4" too long so i made sure to tell them that at sky when i ordered it and once i told them the steering box was on the inside of the frame he said ok looks like youll need a 34" link + the TREs.. which is right on the money b/c they had sent that other guy a 38" link + TREs

K just curious. My draglink is straight and has no interference issues that I've noted. But my truck has like 9" of lift(3" in the brackets and 6" springs)

whats the scoop on that swamp buggy thing?

It's an airboat. They run in real shallow water. Good for running in the swamps and stuff.

People use em on the coast a lot for duck hunting becuase you can get up real close to the blinds to drop people off and you can use em to lay out the decoys.

Plus they are just freakin badass!
