SAS build thread... Project: Green Seal

Looking good Drew! Let us know how much vibration(if any) you get from the front driveshaft after the trip to Ferriday.

what's this?

How do you go about balancing that driveshaft? Does it vibe much?

that appears to be a bunch of junk on the side of your house ive been meanimg to pick up.

sweet stash though

haha the garbage man is comin by tomorrow to pick all that crap up...

you cant balance it... to tell you the truth ive never noticed it vibing while i was wheeling! it vibes a lil but nothing major driving down the road in 4wd (25-30 mph+), it hasnt gottent bad enough to bother me yet though

So then do you have the specs on the alcans? How are they working out?
And what would you guess your total lift turned out to be?

Now correct me if im wrong but I need to clairify for my little brain. You used a pass drop 241 out of a newer K5 or suburban and used a regular pass. side diff 10b? are all the electricals the same and does your speedo work?

I wish I had more money Id offer ya some for that 10b since you got a BIG STICK now. Since I have the stupid little 5 speed I doubt a 10b will be my weak link. But I remodeled my bathroom, bought a 71 k10, and Im buying muddybuddys NWF doubler, so Im out of money.

Oh, I just realized that was your front shaft. What did you do for a rear shaft?

i cant remember the joint sizes he runs, but hes runnin a normal tube shaft in back.

Drew, have those h1's even moved since i was last down? that porch has looked about the same as that pic for the past 2 years!! lmao

umm specs on the alcans are as follows... 4" lift, 50" long, super soft spring rate, 22.5/27.5 center pin offset, military wrap and 3/4" holes in the bushings. i love the way they turned out, they ride like a caddy and flex like crazy. i could use a swaybar though, as my truck leans like a boat around corners. total lift came out to 8-9", im really happy with the stance of it on 38s, i need to trim just a tiny bit more and get some bumpstops on the front in an attempt to keep my boggers from gnawing on my fenders :doah:

you'd be correct on the tcase, im using a passdrop 241 out of a 91 k5, and yes my speedo still works fine as those cases had VSS fromt he factory. now one problem that has arose with this case is that now that i apparently dont have a tcase shifter postion sensor or anything, my truck doesnt want to shift while in 4lo, you have to manualy shift it from first to 2nd gear, and it refuses to shift into 3rd let alone 4th gear

i definitely feel you on being out of money... after this build i wont have a cent to my name! a buddy of mine is actually buying my 10blt from me to put in his s10 but thanks for the thought, i never would have thought getting rid of a 10blt would have been this easy

im still running my stock rear driveshaft with a S44/1350 conversion joint

haha no they havent justin... but i have a week off next week so hopefully ill get the H1s painted and maybe if im lucky get them mounted up...

whats the deal with these rubber runflats you got your hands on the other day!?!?

i cut them with a sawzall... using a blade with all the teeth ground off and a make shift knife blade made on said blade with a grinder... making the blade is easy and it works sooo much better than an off the shelf sawzall blade. the process of cutting 4 boggers however is neither quick or fun! it prolly took a total of 6-7 hours to do them all :eek1:

just to give you an idea..we used the allena dn broke the kingpin the first time...so we welded the allen to the kingpin..then we couldnt hold it so we had to pull a truck up on it and use that 6 ft cheater bar with all 3 of us to get it loose

he does look like the guy from streetfighter.

lookin good drew, bout time you got a 60
