this in katemcy coupled with the fact that i just blew my 4l60e sparked the following...

mmm... goodies

rebuilt th400 with slip yoke 205 (was sold to a buddy before it was even unbolted from the trans)

PICT0028.jpg

i dont know if my eyes are deceiving me or not but it looks as though this trans has VSS already. like it was possibly a 2wd trans at some point and now has a 4wd tail shaft? (correct me if im wrong)

a pair or 32 spline 205 front outputs with 1330 yokes and bearing retainers (one for me one for my buddy john)
PICT0042.jpg

32 spline, 6 bolt round, twin sticked 205 with ORD rails and JB shifters :rockit:

freebies: 2 piece 1410 superdoody drive shaft, complete 7.4L vortec upper/lower intake wth dizzy, MAF, throttle body etc (for some nasty future plans  )

i dunno about earlier ones but the shaft i got is from a like 06 or something and it def is 1410... i compared the joints to my 1350 from my busted a$$ shaft on the 14ff side, cap is the same diam but the cross is like .5" or so wider

at the moment i think my plan is to have both the 203 and 205 set at the stock clocking on the doubler adapter and use a 3 setting GLO clocking ring to fine tune my 205 clocking

almost forgot the pic my my 203 range box...

been a lil while since ive updated this thread so here we go (pay no mind to tonights and todays etc lol, transferring posts :doah:)

recent swap details are as follows... the 4l60e/241 where ripped out and replaced by th400/twin sticked 205, 1350 front yoke with 32 spline output, 1410 rear shaft (being made this week) and i moved the front axle forward 1.25"

the tech article i made on doing an input and front output swap on a 205 can be found here http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=260862 (and yes ive been wearing eye protection while grinding/wire wheeling)

the other day i also managed to snap the shift shaft shank in half on the th400 when tryng to change the shifter arms so ima call around tomorrow to see how much it would cost me to get swapped out and take it from there

PICT0075-1.jpg

found the missing leaf for my driver side spring pack, got a grade 8 bolt head ground down for a center pin, made spares and rehung the axle etc today... i also picked up the trans today and crossing my fingers we stabbed it back into the truck this afternoon

got the 205 in tonight and got all the interior torn apart to plot out how my shifters are going to go... comes to find out that my ghetto shift rod that i would get under the truck and shift by hand pointed up and stabbed a hole in the bottom of my cab, and that hole is in exactly the right spot where my twin sticks are gonna come up through the floor. also instead of building off of my old xmember or building a new one from scratch we are going to use the stock 205 xmember and make some extentions to connect it to the frame

and after 5 months... the Seal drives!!!

got the cross member burned in, all the fluids topped off, charged the battery, hooked up the trans shifter, hooked up the vacuum line, got the front drive shaft cut down 6", changed both the joints in it, threw that sucker in and tore ass in the field beside my house! she turned over 3 times then fired right up like it was nothing, flexed it up on the hill out there and the best thing is, i havent rubbed yet :rockit:

one of the new racing seats i ordered, the 5 point harnesses should be here by wednesday

PICT0187.jpg

she runs through all 3 forward gears like a dream

plans for tomorrow = install twin stick shifters and put my interior back together

we finally finished today... the shifters gave us one hell of a fight and i curse who designed them but they are in there and currently working like a charm. i also got the truck up to 45 mph tonight with minimal vibes, i was quite impressed

PICT0197.jpg

i had a exhaust leak on the pass side that i thought was a donut gasket gone bad, turns out it was the exhaust pipe cracking... it ended up breaking clean off today right where the piping goes into the donut gasket flange. she was shootin fire out of there at one point :uhoh:

crazy good work man.its amazing how much work goes into a sfa swap.good to know if i ever get a newer rig.haha.major breakage on the d-shaft.time to upgrade again.the never ending story.

Man did you have a problem with blowing ujoints on the front shaft at all? Are you still running Tom Woods super flex? I love the heck out of mine. Been through four shafts and that thing just keeps holding up.. The Atlas just rips the ears slap off the shafts.. Don't know what's up..

yea i actaully just replaced my 1350 superflex for the first time, it lasted like 2 years. it had some pretty good slack in it when i tossed it... before with my 241 clocked up it vibbed horribly by 15 mph, a combination of that and prolly a healthy dose of axle wrap did it in. i just recently cut my shaft down 6" with the 205 in the stock clocked location and i can get the truck up to 45 mph now with minimal vibes

its served me realy well over those years besides the vibing part, id keep it but im getting a smoking deal on a 1410 cv shaft and a 1350 cv shaft so im prolly gonna sell my current setup and use those as primary/spare

If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the two 1410 joints and where did you pick them up at? It's going to suck for me b/c I have to get 32 splines... but wanting to do 1410's though.. BAD.... The 1310's aren't holding at all... well I say that.. the ujoints are holding just fine, It's just the shaft ears that are exploding...

hmm.gif

got the exhaust leak fixed today and it sounds 100 times better! aslo picked up my rear shaft and threw that sucker in over at the driveshaft shop, got it shimmed up with a 1/4" plate to increase clearance between my exhaust crossover pipe, i think the midshaft is at 2.5* down right now but ill prolly get the exhaust slightly modified in the future and put the pillow block directly on the xmember itself giving me roughly a 4* drop in the mid shaft... specs: superdoody rear 2 piece shaft, 1410 throughout, mid shaft is the stock tube but shortened and the slip shaft is 3.5" .134" tube for $425 out the door

anyhoo, on to the pictors
