Was wondering if any rtv or other sealant is used on the one piece windshield seal on my k5 ? Putting one in on my Christmas break , any tips or advice would be appreciated much

You will want a plastic "bone" tool as I have heard them called. Its just a plastic stick for working the edge of the seal around the glass. Had a glass guy give me one once. Screwdrivers and such are not the right tools.

I have failed at installing glass 3 times. Damaged seals and scratched paint. I really wanted to be good at it, I have the glass shop do it now. Good luck, I hope you are successful.

you put a bead in the the groves. The weather strip with locking strip in center doesn't need to use a rope to install glass. I have removed and in stalled the rear window in pickups, for camper crawl through, many times with plastic pry levers. The non lock strip windshield seal could be done the same.

So you put the sealant on the Grove where the glass goes? Or both?
I never used anything and never had an issue as long as it was all clean and the metal is not rusted

On my rear side windows I did both. On the rear pick up windows we never used anything either. I am on the fence wether to use it or not when I put the new seal on kids ford, or the new windshield and seal in my 77
