I swapped my drive train over to a new body and for giggles I left the body lift on the 88 mostly because its more effort than its worth to take off. how does everyone go about extending their shifters for a 465 and the clutch rod. I was thinking weld two nuts to a short piece of pipe and thread the clutch rod after I cut it in half. similar setup as the drag links. the shifter I guess just heat up and bend it til it works lol. how did everyone go about making yours work?

I put a 2" body lift on my old K10, the kit came with a 2" piece of 3/8" rod and instructions to cut and weld it into the straight vertical section of the rod. As for the shifter, min hit the bench seat in reverse so I heated it at the lowest bend and raised it a little.

my theory behind the nuts welded to each end of the pipe was that it would make it a little stronger and the extra benefit of being able to tweak the length and angle just in case the welding is off. mine was a pretty tight fit the last time I installed it. wouldn't take me but 15 minutes to make the pipe and thread it. Im just wondering if im over engineering it haha

I only have a 1 inch body lift, but I just bought a long bolt and ground it round to mate into the fork. I adjusted it until the clutch is where I want.

Remember the draglink and tierod have one end threaded left-hand and the other threaded right-hand. If they were both threaded the same way, the center section would just shift without getting shorter or longer.

If you happen to have both LH and RH taps and dies in the right size, great, but otherwise you're overthinking it :D

Depending on the length needed ,you might get away with using one of those "coupler nuts" intended for joining two threaded rods together ,to extend the linkage, most hardware stores sell them.....or maybe use a steel turnbuckle ,those have left and right hand threads...

it would work if I took one end off. say the bottom end, tweak one side til the length is right then re attach. least I think lol. im over thinking the whole thing anyways. kinda like trying to reengineer sliced bread. don't mess with a simple thing
