Now that the shackle flip is done, plus adding a zero rate to move the axle back, and Heavy Duty shackles that added another 1/2"........I am looking at 9" lift for the rear and possibly 8" lift for the front when I change the springs from 4" to 6".

What shocks should I use? Bilstein doesn't have anything in stock for that tall of lift. Nor have I been able to find anything from Fox or BDS.

Is there a company that makes custom shocks for tall lifts?

Suggestions, please.

After he rotates his rear axle pinion up I don't think he has a choice.

I have the right pinion angle. It didn't change much after the shackle flip and it has been shimmed to correct the angle.

When I did my shock tab set-up, I used the Ford Shock Towers up front and set it so that all four corners are the same distance in length from eyelet to eyelet. Right now the rear has a 28" distance. When I finish the front it will be about 27" distance so I can use the same length shock at all corners.

I did, however, call Fox and got a couple of recommended shocks.

Part # 985-24-007........2.0 Performance Series Smooth Body....35.95" Extended....21.85" Collapsed....14.1" Travel.....5/8" shaft.....$130.00

Part # 985-24-055.......2.0 Performance Series Smooth Body w/Reservoir....34.95" Extended....20.85" Collapsed....14.0" Travel....5/8" shaft....$225.00

The representative said that regular driving is same between both but for off road the one with the Reservoir would be better.

Probably going with the Reservoir style. Which means more overtime.

Good lawd that's a lot for shocks! :yikes: (I'm sure they're worth it but wow)

@wheels87k5 You know the bilstein 14" stroke shocks are 35" long right?

I still don't understand how the lower stock shock mounts will work with a pinion rotated up? You have to be running a CV shaft with that much lift.

Here's my Fox's that I picked up last year. 12" travel for the short ones, and 16" travel for the longer ones. These are 7/8" shafts also.

He is running a CV shaft I do believe.

Sad thing is, I won't know if they're worth it until I install them and see how it rides.

Yes. CV shaft that was shipped to Tom Woods. It arrived today and they are going to lengthen it for the extra lift. I had to weld on new shock mounts to the 14bff when I was setting it up for the first lift, along with new spring perches.

I'll have to look into the bilsteins you are referring to.

@skunked.....And thanks for the help......More research on Bilsteins:

Bilstein B8 5125 Series # 33-185576......34.9" Extended....20.75" Collapsed.....14.30" Travel....0.55" shaft......$76.10 on Amazon

Reviews are good. Maybe what I'm looking for.

OK you move your axle mounts, that makes more sense :thumb:

You can also buy cheaper 14" travel shocks if you need something to get you by. Obviously the 5100 billy's are much better shock.....

The bilsteins I used for the 4"-6" lift did a great job so I'm going to stick with the bilstein brand and order the one's listed above. I was blind and didn't see all the sizes on their site until you mentioned them. Again, thanks for the help. That's going to save me some cash over the fox shocks.
