there are a few places a guy should not cheap out on a truck like this. Just leave it safe until the steering can be done right. Broken steering on a dd = you having a good possibility of hurting other people on the road or trail and giving other groups one more reason to not like lifted/offroad trucks. If I saw a half assed steering setup on a lifted truck next to me, while I'm driving with my kids especially, there is a good chance I would talk to you about it. Brakes and steering= not the place to cheap out or be good enough. This is the kind of stuff that was just talked about in some of the blazer bash threads of what people should not show up with and expect to wheel. There are plenty of other ways to save money. Just not here. Just my 2cents worth. If you are having fun now, keep having fun and start acquiring parts for the future, just cause you have new parts doesn't mean they need to be put on today.
