Shouldn't a detroit locker unlock?

I am pretty sure a detoit locker in a 14BFF from a M1008 should unlock if it is sitting on jack stands right? What I mean is I should be able to turn one axle and hold the other one still right? Well this is not the case. I am swapping this axle into my blazer but I am going to pop the cover to drain the fluid and inspect everything. What should I look for as far as the locker not unlocking? Thanks!

yep they should.but i broke mine.so i dono for sure.lol.i need to replace all the inner side gears.

yes,yes it would.and i had to move very very carefully and slow to get it home and put the spiders back in.
