All right, so the exhaust that is on my truck is just about falling off. No big deal right now, since I have it off the insurance and it is in pieces in my driveway. I plan on getting it running within the next two months (probably turn into 4 :doah:). It doesn't need to be inspected until November, and even though I work at a garage and do inspections, there's no way I could even think about passing this thing. I am going to install long tube headers and I kinda like the idea of side pipes. Not the "oh my exhaust exits out the side" side pipes, but the corvette style lake pipes. I got an 86 K5 with a 4 inch lift, so these pipes ain't going to be close to the ground. If you're interested here's the part number from Summit: PTE-H1050 I just have to hope some genius doesn't use it as a step or walk up against it (even though it has a heat shield).

Anyway just to end the babblin, I'm interested in hearing what you "experts" have to say :p:

Some one will get burned guranteed. but they are cool in my honest opinion.

can we get a photochop from someone on here... ive never seen em on a blazer before. I am a fan of corvette style sidepipes, and i know they are bad ass on 70's vans :D

side pipes on blazers could be like stacks on a pickup. id be a fan. just make sure they exit behind the back door.

also, if youve got a diesel, get used to the idea of black soot down the side of the truck.

I for one vote DO IT!!! i think it would be pretty bad ass.

it cerainly would be slightley different... I dig sidepipes.. certainly bodystlyes lent themselves well to that look... certain ones...... ;)

might not be the most "functional", smart thing to run.. but yeah, could be cool! :haha:

my dually is getting sidepipes, no question. I already priced out two 96" chrome 5" turnouts at work  i'm not sure about a K5 being shorty wheelbase and all, but I know crewcab duallys are deadly with nice sidepipes.

ford with a nice pipe job

I have a stupid side pipe setup on my Blazer, and even if it was the style like Luke posted above, I would never run them again. It is far too easy to damage them, they interfere with any plans for a slider or step setup, and my kids have been burnt by them even though they are behind the rockers a bit. They also speed rust issues here, both by holding crap against the rockers and by the heat being added into the rockers.

i think its a wheelbase and application thing.........if the K5 ever goes offroad or even down a trail. I'd vote bad idea.

I've been toying with the idea as well. I snapped the rear yoke on my axle and the spinning driveshaft punched holes in my stock mufflers. But instead of putting in "true" side pipes i was looking at moving the cat's a few inches forward of stock location and putting in short cherry bombs with 3" down tube pionting out at 45 degrees right past the doors. that way the exhaust is still tucked inside the frame rails and wont be used as sliders. The sliders will still be sliders.

I love them on Corvettes and Shelby Cobra's, but other than that its not really my thing.

However someday when I get my 67 427 tri power Corvette roadster, it will certainly have the sidepipes.

Well the trucks definately more of a mall crawler than a rock crawler. The closest it goes to off-road is the dirt roads by me. It's primarly my winter ride. I measured and I'll have them exit right where the fender flares out for the rear wheel. Then I'll make up the difference underneath from the header to the start of the side pipe. I'm kinda going for the "different, not seen to much and totally cool" ;) idea.

As for rust, I hear ya there. Right now I'm sandin down and patchin up the fenders, rockers, floor pans, the usual. I figure if I keep up on washin it, there is a chance I can kinda keep it clean.

My lil brother is a photochop fanatic so I'll see if I can get some pics of my truck, (ill put the driver seat back in so I can move it) and see if I can get something up here

i need to know where to find some pipes for the dually like that white one, i believe those look to be semi exhaust stacks, layed on their sides, but i also want the system muffled, not big on noisy exhausts anymore, i like a nice toned rumble, but a 40 series Flowmaster is far out of the question.

just starting to look around on the internet, but thought i'd post up in here as well to see if anybody knew right off of any suppliers for long tubes like these for the lenght of a crew cab longbed setup...

thanks
