so i went to pick up the box today and i just couldn't let his long time buddy be split up . so i made a deal on the unit I.R. 2420N5 compressor . she is so clean its not funny . all original paper work / sales info / packing tags / sale promo slip all included in the deal . this one will replace my older unit thats 9.0 cfm @ 175 psi and the new unit is 16.8 cfm @ 175 psi . the bigger one i already have is 19 cfm now and can go to 36 cfm with a bigger motor .

so she works like a champ . glad i finally paid up for my own box . cleaned up a aluminum intake manifold for a friend and glass beaded the runners all out and he was super happy with the results .

already got mods in mind . . .

foot pedal is hard fitting hosed in and no real swivel or flex . so i got some more flexzilla fittings coming to make it male/female coupling and flex a bit as i was all out of my stock already .
next is a got a 4ft and 6ft flexzilla whip line to go from the foot pedal to the box face . i will swap the rubber grommet to a bulk head fitting . then a flexzilla on the gun hose to be more free in your hand and not fight the hose and gun . i will figure out the suction hose also if its to stiff .

the next upgrade was the single 55watt flood light . did some looking and the top one to keep popping up was direct from skat blast and i wasnt searching there name . 33" wide single tube LED 2x mag mount direct plug in unit for 59.00 plus s/h best price i found at over half a dozen places all the same price point .

cant wait to get the upgrades done and try her out again . ! ! !

also noticed the I.R. compressor is real nice but not as quiet as my all rubber mounted unit i built . so at some point this one will get the rubber mounting mods .

added a vintage old SW air pressure gauge i had laying around and a used single pod holder unit . when the reulator shows up i will be adding this to the gauge port on the regulator fo i can watch the pressure if i think i have a problem .

Nice score, we have used one of those cabinets in the shop for over 25 years and it is still going, it should last you a lifetime. You may want to upgrade the vacuum system someday if opportunity and budget allow, that one is LOUD, but then you probably wont hear it over the compressor next to it :D

just fixed the loud compressor tonight ..

added in a 2nd regulator for the blast cabinet off the main line . this lets me use #1 or #2 comp and feed the box . turned up the regulator on #2 to match the rest of the system and not blead off anymore .

also got the guage plumbed in and its nice to look up and watch as it works to know if you have any problems . just saw another older blast box with one FACTORY installed . so i guess i am not the only one who likes to know whats going on .

also got a 1/4" pipe thread bulk head fitting and replaced the rubber grommet for compressed air to the gun from the outside . also added the 4ft flexzilla whip line to the gun and back to the bulk head fitting . its now a lot softer and less fight to run the blast gun . next up will be the suction hose for the media .

still waiting on the flexzilla quick connect ends and 6ft whip hose for the rest of the box redo . . . and the 33" led work light .

and @Greg Ducato this I.R. comp will get the all rubber upgrade like the last 2 i build from spare parts . then there quiet . :woot::sign11:

huge upgrade day today .

33" led light from skat blast showed up . stupid easy install job minus the way i wanted it wired in .

they want you to pop a 1 3/8" hole in the box and pass the plug threw and pop in a rubber grommet and plug it in . well i didnt plan on the HEAT producing halogen and low lumen output so i popped it all out and put in a wire pinch connector thingy . i then cut the plug and went up the hole and pinched the wire to secure it . cut the extra off in the box and wired it in just like the old and re-installed the cover lid and test fired and LOVE it over the old light :saweet::cool1: . . no other shop light on for pic #2 . its all box light beaming out but not to powerful .

you can also spot the flexzilla hose upgrade i did last night .

time to make a dust separator / media reclaimer unit on the cheep but works like a monster .

copied this from a production box i use to use and man does it work good . i use to clean the dust collector and got about 98% dust only in the tray .

so in place of buying a $200.00 unit and have it hang outside the box and take up more room i figured whip one up for mine . it only sticks out less than 2" inside the box . it sucks up the right side of the unit . the left hand side of the suction port has a wall up half the length to the center of the radius . this lets the dust / media spin up and around and have the heavys / media drop out the cone point on the bottom slot the hose suction port is 1/4" off the face of the inside of the unit so it will suck the durt but not the heavy media as much .

here is a few pics of the original and my template and layout for cuts . more to come as i build this .

started the install today of the motoguard air dryer/filter unit for the box . also plumbed in a 2nd air line inside the box for a dedicated blow off gun . last 2 boxes i used had them and they were nice . i did waste over 1hr at the big chain store and small mom & pop and scored ZERO fittings i needed . come home and in less than 5 min my order was in on ebay for exactly what i wanted .

opened the vac port hole to take the 2.5" exhaust pipe i will be using for the media reclaimer unit . just need to get me some rivnuts to mount it up to the side of the box . then a rubber coupling to connect the pipe to flex hose .
