I just put a mechanical oil pressure gauge in my truck since the stocker is shot beyond shot. I hooked everything up and kinked the line.... Doh. So I cut the kink out and run a couple to tie everything together. Now it takes me a good 5mins of driving for my oil pressure to register (wtf?) It will come up to 40psi on the gauge after about 5mins of driving.

Once it gets there if I get on it it goes up about 3-5psi and if I idle it goes down 3-5psi. I dont think its the gauge itself because for some reason the oil is moving VERY slowly through the line. Isnt it suppose to shoot right up to the gauge?

Would it make any difference that I connected the sender above the oil filter rather than behind the manifold? I'm thinking that old 90* elbow is my culprit. Tomorrow I'm gonna route a new line with no coupler and ditch that elbow. Is there any chance I over tightened a fitting and am restricting the flow?

im not sure, i put my oil fitting next to the oil filter, and i get instant oil pressure reading. i guess try that, when im idling and its completely warm it will be at about 10psi at 600rpm. it might be something weird like the line and coupler like you talking about.

Run the plastic tube inside a metal tube in places it might kink.

o ya i never thought of it til now, but,if what you do doesnt help. maybe theres a tiny piece of sludge or something in your oil partly blocking the line? just another idea...
