SM465 Grease Fitting on Bellhousing

I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what the grease fitting on the bellhousing for a SM465 lubricates. I have had this popping sound from that area for a couple of months, when I would push in the clutch pedal and let it out. It would come and go. Last night, I put about 2 and half pumps of grease and the sound it gone. What was grinding inside there? Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

It is for the pivot ball that the clutch release fork pivots on.

Thanks! I wasn't real sure what was really wrong in there. I'm amazed at how much of a loud pop that thing was making. I guess I learned my lesson not to let that area get dried out.
