SM465/np208 to Np205?

Ok, if you have a sm465/np208, can you swap in a later model round pattern np205 with the round 6bolt pattern and LONG 32 spline input??

I searched a little bit, but i'm mostly lazy.

Ok, I think I found my answer but if anyone can back this info up I'd like to hear from ya.

The easy way would be to use the factory components;
you already have the 32 spline output SM465,
you need the SM465/NP205 (round) adapter--fairly scarce, but not impossible--figure $150
you also need a round pattern NP205 with the long 32 spline input, again scarce, but not impossible--figure $300 + -

When you get the latter two items, it all bolts together.

ive allready got the 205 I was contemplating buying the trans/transfer. I' guess I didn't know there was a round sm465/205 adapter

I have the late model round 205 6-bolt to SM 465 adapter (no shifter tho) and will post pics if you are interested.

Don't forget your drive shaft, the 208 is slip yake, the 205 is fixed. When I did my swap that was my biggest issue.

I had to get new ones made front and back because the frond was too long iirc, and the back was too short and needed the slip joint. I did the 208 to 205 swap behind a th400

Look again, it is a 1985 up SM465/NP205 (round) adapter.
