Snorkel-in cab

Here's my setup that im working on:

The pipe is a 90 degree 4" exhaust tube. I will probably go with what blazin blazer posted on top of the tbi (I hope it fits).

I ran this previously, it was hack, but it got the job done:

The stock air inlet goes to just inside of the pass side headlights. After I went through a water/mud hole that put my driver's side headlight underwater, I knew it was time for a snorkel!

Anybody have anymore info on this subject? Can anybody compare the noise inside the cab with a cone type filter to something else? How about 38" boggers on the highway? Thanks!

Here's more pics of my setup, now completed:

I havnt had it on the highway so I can't tell you how loud it is. But just revving it up in the driveway I can hear the exhaust more than the air intake

Thats a pretty nice setup there. Thats close to what I would like to do.

im interested too.....im sick of hydrolocking my truck and dont want to run the arb snorkel beacuse it will get broken and i dont wanna pay 200 for a peice of plastic

Well... if you keep hydro locking your motor.... you wont have to worry about anything because it wont run at all!

I totally forgot about this thread, glad to see it brought back up so I can do this instead of buy an air cleaner housing for my tbi. But i will have to run it a little different because I moved my batt to the firewall.

There's another member here who routed his intake through the firewall and he has his battery mounted to the firewall. I forgot his name though, hopefully he will see this thread

Can I bring this back from the dead? I'm considering a cowl snorkel for my truck. I've drowned an engine already with the stock intake and the cowl snorkel has served me well in a Jeep Cherokee. In the Heep you only hear any additional noise for a few seconds at startup. That doesn't seem to be the case here, however. Any new info or pics?

I just want to add that mine is still working great. I can't say the same for the $300+ ARB snorkel on my buddy's XJ. A 40 cent hose clamp came off and the tube that goes from snorkel to air box fell off. He didnt know this and hit a mud hole and the engine shut off. Pull it back to camp and look underneath to find this:

His 4.6L stroker jeep inline 6 is junk now

It occurs to me that you should be sure you have no exhaust leaks or an exhaust anywhere near the cab. Sucking in air from the outside could potentially suck in carbon monoxide and cause some serious health issues, considering it's a silent killer.

I had my run-in with chemical poisoning, wish I hadn't, it messed me up for life.

Below is the setup on my XJ. I'm interested in doing something similar on my V-10 but I don't know what the minimum diameter for a hose is. What I used here was a 3" Secptre universal intake hose. Is that sufficient or should I use something larger? What if I split it up and used two sections of 3"?

I used the 4" version of that same hose. Works fine for my TBI350 v-8

Good deal. This is dollar for dollar one of the best mods I think you can make to anything that goes offroad. Of course, I haven't heard what it will sound like on my truck yet.

I did mine that way. I wish I would have started with the wider factory air cleaner assembly, Still looking to ditch the dryer tube for someting better. Have a friend that has the ol Govm't Mule truck and that snorkel set up is tits. Try and get some pics of it.

do you have any more pics under the dash?

i was lookin under the dash i just read how you went through the wiper valley then through the dash. why not just have the hose stop at wiper valley? the only problem i can see is if its raining hard your motor will be suckin alot of moister...anybody else have reasons?
