well the fuel gauge on the 86 k5 is pissing me off, i have checked all my wiring and everything is good and the gauge will read 1/4 left when its full it will slightly fluxuate between 1/4 and a 1/2 depending on if im on angles or what not but seems to always end up accuratly at empty.

so is it the gauge or the sending unit?

in my experience it is almost always the sending unit. only way i know to check is to find out the range or resistance you should see from full to empty (no idea what that should be) and check it with an voltmeter set on ohms. move the sending unit arm through the full range of motion, look for any breaks or jumps in resistance, it should progress smoothly from one value to another.

if the sending unit checks out, id say its the guage, but thats just a SWAG
