Spare PMD - Pensacola OK?

As I start to kit up the new to me '96 K2500, I see a lot of people recommending to keep a spare PMD on hand, just in case. Been looking at various sources, and I see Pensacola Diesel appears to have them considerably cheaper than any one else. Coming from the Ford/International diesel world, Pensacola Diesel has a less than stellar reputation over there, generally being regarded as being a last resort kind of place.

They say they're selling the Dorman replacment PMD which is new (as opposed to a used part). I'd like to assume that would mean that it's OK, and nothing a bad rebuilder would be able to screw up over there?

Just do the relocation kit and never worry about it again .

Already been relocated, but $135 for a spare is still far cheaper than a tow truck, especially when they don't want to take a roll back down a dirt road and instead want to charge big money for an "off road recovery". BTDT, thank god I still had enough battery left to winch myself to pavement, lol.

Instead of a spare, maybe just buy a good quality new one and use your current for the spare.

From what I read in my research of them once they're moved they generally last

I wish that were true...

Relocation will make it last longer, and can make it easier to replace on the side of the road, but personal experience says that they will still die eventually.

Mine on the Burb is behind the license plate.

I got mine off eBay- Stanadyne grey housing. I left the original in place also, so I (theoretically) have 2 spares. I got 4 years out of the last one.
