I have the Warn Premium hubs on my 86 K-5 and for some reason the left(driver) side hub seems to always want to go out on me along with the wheel bearings:mad: , its already been the third time replacing this side.:angry1: This time though I just cleaned out the hub, but replaced the wheel bearings beacause they were in pieces, but you cannot lock the hub by hand, the only I can get it lock is with a pair of plyers:grind: , now I have another hub to replace it with:mad1: , but why is it always this side that keeps going out on me,:dunno: I always replace the passenger side just in case, but the passenger side always looks perfect and the driver's side always full of mud and gunk and s*&^ and its getting annoying:screwy:

Sorry it's also a stock 10 bolt front axle
86:usaflag: :k5:

do the bearings fit snug on the spindle? have you replaced the hub or just the lockout? do you replace the races when the bearings go out? if the spindle or hub is worn it could be allowing the bearings to 'wiggle'. just a thought. I dont know what else it could be.

I replace everything when the bearings go out, it is just a plain looking shaft when i have everything off, I replace everything form the seal on the end to the whole hub and still the same problem

The bearings fit fine once I replace all, but for some reason, the hub still decides to fill with mud........etc and the bearings like to disintegrate

First pep boys, then auto zone, don't know where else to get them. not sure the brand, I think the last ones I got were Timken, but don't quote me on it

If you don't install the snap ring on the stub axle that will allow dirt and water to enter from the backside of the stub and ruin bearings all day long. I'm talking with stoney about this now.

Thats what i can't figure out, everything is installed, even the snapring, I know this because that snap ring is a B&^*( when you don't have snap ring pliers

Are you sure that the bronze (if original) or plastic (if aftermarket) thrust shim is on the stub axle?

Not sure which shim you are referring to but it is built just the same way as I have right(passenger) side built, but the driver side is the only that has problems

mine was doing this, when I got the truck it did not have the lock washer in between the the two lock nuts and the lock nuts were backing off.
