Does anyone know the specs on this? I came across one of these for what seems like a fairly good price. It looks just like an older 14-bolt but with factory disc brakes. Width? Other differences?

I think the newer body style 14BFF's are 11.5" ring gear and drum in hat style discs. Downside: no locker available that I have found other than the factory "locker".

Only if it's a D-Max or 8.1
6.0 gassers have a 14bolt just like they have had. The new AAM has a couple locker options I'm told. The Dodge anti-spin,a cone style AAM made locker,ARB,and supposedly True Trac , I'm told the Detroit will be out sometime this year :D. I'm waiting.............................

I have an '02 and the rear looks the same except for the brakes obviously and then the spring perches are different. Not sure about the width but I have been told they are a little wider.:dunno:

the 2500 HD will use the 10.5 if its a non big block gas engine, all your standard 14 bolt lockers will work, AAM does not make any lockers for this axle only the eaton G80 is available from the factory, the dode 10.5 uses a differenct carrier so the lockers will not interchange. As for the 11.5 the dodge carrier will interchange into the GM housing.

There are a few out there as I stated. Check out the DieselPlace.com Various guys are running aftermarket lockers in the AAM 11.5

i never said that there were not aftermarket ones for that axle i just was talking about Stock AAM lockers, i know this pretty well because i worked in product engineering at the plant that makes the 11.5

Well one of the better known D-Max sledpullers is selling what he called an AAM Cone Style locker .

I had an 03 6.0 with a 10.5, i have an 07 duramax with the 11.5. I thought it was a year difference, might be motor difference. Find out what motor was in front of it and you can find out for sure. 10.5 has lots of options, 11.5 has no detroit yet, or it it does, i cant find one, but there are some other ones available.

There is a couple of companies that deal with the Duramax stuff that sell spools and hardened axle shafts for the AAM 11.5 rearend. I think one of the shops is Crank It Up Diesel out of Ohio.
