Weed chemical sprayer is what I use...
I pore a quart of waste oil in my bed. :D

Doesn't dirt and crap stick to that though? If you were to coat the underneath of a Blazer, wouldn't that just create more of a mess?

It's oil....nothing sticks to it. If you spray oil over mud...then you will have a mess. Try spraying a small section...see if you like it..:wink1:

Oil spraying in the rust belt has been around for a long time. We also put 1/2 pint of kerosene in a bucket of soapy water, while washing too.

Wow, I've never heard of it. So you've gotta clean all the dried mud off first I'm assuming. Hmm. I might have to try this sometime. I've heard of spraying wheel wells with WD-40 or the like to keep mud from sticking, but never thought of just undercoating the truck with oil...

will be doing it in a few days. let you know how it goes. im going to use used motor oil for it. have a lot of it

Pressure wash, first...let it dry...then put on lite coats of oil. Have you ever seen a truck that has a motor leak? the frame is usually spotless...

Yea on old timer told me of this; but if you ever have to have an inspection hope it don't drip any oil on them......

Years ago I used boiled linseed oil cut with diesel and sprayed it on the frame to inhibit rust. Make sure it is BOILED or it will be a mess. I had an old metal quart sprayer from the pre WD-40 days that was pressurized with an air compressor for use with penetrating oil.

You guys in southwest don't know how good you got it. Lastyear I got a donor K5 body out of Texas. Look great until a 87mph wind blew my barn down and crushed it..............go figure. At least its not rusty. :D

Do you guys get inspected over in Western Ohio?
That's something that's rare around Akron..

We've had my wife's durango oil sprayed several times, the first time was after we had some bodywork done..the next truck gets it from day one..a buddy of mine has done it on all of his cars for years, and they stay nice.

we went to a place in Akron to have it done - maybe you know them - can't think of the name, but the office is an old house, and the oil spray rack is right in the driveway, and the garage in back is the body shop. I'll see if I can dig up the name of the place.. they're right on a main road too..can't believe the EPA hasn't shut them down yet.

The local shop here will spray vehicles with new hydraulic oil.

He's got it down to a science......drive on ramps, drills holes in the rockers and door posts so that he can get into all the crevices (then puts in factory-style plugs) hits the wheelwells hard and the entire underside too.

If you do it every year, the car will last long enough for you to get sick of owning it.

i have a little sprayer now. with a long hose. what to spray tho? so far been told used motor oil with water. water will evaporate oil will stay. then used oil with diesel came up. never thought of new hydraulic oil. mixed with anything? thanks again

I would use tranny fluid! Ever seen under one with a rear seal leak....

I have heard of this. Guy who did it claimed he just used an insecticide pump sprayer with a wand and used motor oil.

Assuming you sprayed the living hell out of the undersides how long would this be good for? We have our infamous 6+ month winters here.

We do it once a year.

I'll never have a vehicle undercoated or "rustproofed" again.. it's all oil spray, from here on out.

what kinda oil did you use? want to do it. not sure what the best way to go. thanks
