will the front driveshaft clear the blow proof bellhousings used in drag cars? talking small block with a 465.

if i am thinking correctly, the center bore will have to be bored out too right? around the input bearing retainer?

any other problems associated with running these bellhousings?

everybody running around with one foot?

maybe i didnt ask the right question.

anybody running a steel bellhousing?

i dont know, but im thinking that the NHRA makes the certs only last a year or two, so they have to be changed that often. or at least thats what i was told. so they may be avail pretty cheap. which is why i ask.

*edit* new ones seem to be going for $300-400 from summit.

saw one for 200 on ebay.

They have to be inspected.
They also have bells for the hyd. clutch setup.
Why wouldn't it clear the shaft?

dunno, thats why i was asking.

would prob convert to hydro with aftermarket stuff or mod factory stuff to fit.

What kind of HP are you running to need a blow proof bell housing? I could see the need if you are mud draggin' or rock racing! I would think that any bell housing that would fit without an adapter would clear the shaft. They try to keep the size down so clearance isn't an issue. You might try the Summit racing tech line. They are usually more knowledgeable about the four wheel aspect of parts. Or call the manufacturer of the bell housing you want to run. Weight is probably going to close to double. I hope everything turns out all right for you.

Guys, it has nothing to do with the blowproof:rolleyes:... hes asking cause his stock aluminum one is cracked. this is just a route to take so he doesnt have to replace it with something else that may verywell fail

Also i cant think of any clearance issues, but like you said the hole would have to be enlarged.

I emailed Lakewood to see if they made a bellhousing for 465's and they replied back saying that they dont. Does anyone know of a steel bellhousing that could be modified to work with a 465 and still be hydro???

all you have to do to make a 465 work is take it to a machine shop and have them enlarge the center hole. its 4.xxx on a regular bellhousing and they need to enlarge it to 5.xxx, i dont remember the exact dimensions...
