can someone post a pic of their stock shifter on a 205? is it right next to the adapter that connects to the transmission or is it further back? a single pic would answer everything

What year and what are you trying to do?
'85+ (or so) uses a different shifter lever than earlier, because it mounts to the adapter further back. Same hole location in floor though.
I used to have (unsure if still) in my photo album here shots of both levers side by side, but not mounted.

im trying to gauge where the shifters are going to be with doubler (triple stick shifters are right next to the 400/203 adapter. as it is right now with my 400/205, the shifter is pretty much hitting the bench seat. im trying to see where the doubler shifters will be in relation to the stock shifter. does that make sense? haha i hope so
