...which leaves two bolts holding the tranny to the housing. I know I really should replace the housing and I will, but is there any way to temporarily fix it? Like Heli-coils? Also, how much am I looking at for a new one (put in by me)? Is a junk yard housing worth finding?

I paid $75 for a NEW tranny housing, sounds like your best bet is Heli-coils at this point.

Read the sig line...SM 465. By the time you remove it to heli-coil it you may as well replace it. They aren't that expensive...
