Just wondering what you guys think. I have a complete 24valve cummins turbo diesel out of a 2001 dodge 3/4ton 4x4. I actually have the whole truck, but it rolled? Anyways, I have had 2 suburbans and regret getting rid of them. I am actively searching right now, and want to know what you guys think of putting in the cummins diesel with the nv-5600 six speed trans, with a 205 transfercase. This will be 4x4, and yes we wheel hard

Thanks for your thoughts

The 12 valve swap is easier to pull off, but since you already have the complete donor the 24 should not be bad. I say go for it. I know if I had that donor rig at my house there would be a Cummins in my '91 CC in a week or two!

Is the frame of the Dodge trash? If not then swap a burb body on the dodge frame. This way you don't have to worry about doing frame reinforcements to the weak chevy frame, coil springs up front which will ride better, and don't have to do any drivetrain mods to handle the Cummins power. Just get the body on, wired, gauges, ...

i got a 12v in a 1970 chevy 4x4 had to have 3" body lift to clear the tall thing. had to do away with the heater core so i got an underdash unit. just some odds and ends..... HOSS got a great idea seems easier too

its a horrible idea. Why you would want a dodge motor in a chevy? Come over to my place, and put it in my 91 burb so you don't ruin yours......:D

cummings is not a dodge its a well known reputable independent engine manufaturer who obviously builds a sweet engine.

Be careful about fitting the 5600 in the tranny tunnel under the burb.........

expect to either have an over height body lift ( more than 3") or cut a new tranny tunnel in the floor.

The NV5600 is very very big.........in that last side pic you can start to see how fat the 5600 is, its a pig of a tranny. weights about 600 lbs. I wold use a nv4500 if wheeled regulary, strictly for weight savings. You'll probably have exhaust to front driveshaft issues if useing a passenger drop tcase too.

Here is a NV5600 bolted to a '91 dodge passenger drop NP205 it has a male 29 spline 1 1/2" input and uses a female 29 spline lock. just link the oldtime 465 with the 10 spline
