'86 K5 with a BBC swapped in...my new headers won't clear the AC box under the hood. I don't have the AC stuff hooked up now anyways, can I just swap the AC box for a non AC box for more clearance without massive mods to the firewall/rest of HVAC system?

Yes in a short answer .

Long answer is holes and pattern on firewall is different so its NOT a bolt in swap with out some mods .

Ok, so I'm probably better off just pulling another AC box out of the junkyard and carving off the evap housing section then.

I do want to have AC working in this truck eventually, and I have a body lift sitting here that I was planning to put in specifically because of these headers, but I also have some tub cancer to address before putting the body lift in. So I want to hold on to my good AC housing for that.

Anymore i wouldnt play with stock stuff . Aftermarket is all under the dash and performs much better .

This is my plan for my build when i get to this point .

Factory stuff was always good enough for me. This isn't now, nor will it ever be a daily driver again, especially not with a 7mpg motor, lol. I'm really just thinking along the lines of something like unexpectedly getting caught in traffic one day, and having something just to take the edge of getting baked on the asphalt... But not really worth dropping big money on aftermarket stuff to me
