Looks like I found myself a good donor 6.2L for my truck. Its coming out of a K5 blazer donor. The fella said I can take everything I need including the filters, all the associated diesel wiring, exhaust etc.

Anything in particular that I should be grabbing? My plan was to unhook the junction block, and take the engine out without un-doing the rest of the harness, then pull out the glow plug controller wiring. Then planned on crimping the fuel line that supplies the filters, and unbolting it from the firewall without unhooking it so I don't have to mess around with bleeding it later on...

My truck already has a diesel instrument cluster bezel in it with the extra lights.

I'm planning on putting an SM465 behind the diesel, anything special I need there other than a new flywheel? Any reason why a guy couldn't use a regular 4 core rad with the diesel? Or is the diesel rad somehow special?

The engine has less than 100 000 miles on it, and the fella is asking 800. I figured I'd take it if I can get it for less than 650... I'm personally just sick of dealing with carb issues and bad gas mileage. I don't drive my trucks like they are race cars, and it will mostly be used as a throw the camper in the box / tow 2 - 4 quads to the lake three times a summer, and maybe to church on Sunday morning half a dozen times. Not a daily driver, and not a heavy hauler.

Thats true, but that is also by American standards... You guys can still buy a rust free 4x4 for less than 2000, while it would be a 10 000 dollar truck up here, lol

Get the diesel radiator, it has an engine oil cooler built into it. Also grab the oil cooler lines. I wouldn't worry about the exhaust too much though, the exhaust from the gas motor will bolt right up to the diesel manifolds.

However even with pinching off the fuel line you will need to bleed the system later. You have to purge the gas out of your current tank before you even hook it up to the diesel engine.

What would be the best way to drain the tank? Its pretty much empty already, can I just fill it right to the top with diesel?

Pick up a CHEAP electric fuel pump and attach it in place of the mechanical fuel pump with the output into a bucket. Then hook it up to your battery and let it run the tank dry. Then add 1-2 gallons of diesel and run the pump till the tank is dry again...

Now hook up the output of the electric pump to your input of the lift pump, fill the tank with a few gallons of diesel, crack the bleeder on the fuel filter and turn the pump on again until it is getting nothing but fuel out of the filter. Then quickly remove the elect pump from the line and hook everything up normal (here is where you can clamp off the line to prevent a lot of air from getting in).

Sounds like a good plan!

Just got off the phone with the fella, and I get not only the rad and oil cooler lines, but I also get a standard transmission flywheel too. Sounds like a total bolt in :)

Well, I wound up picking this engine up today :) I got the whole setup for 600 bucks!

I'll post up swap pics as soon as I get a chance to do the swap :)
