Tailgate gap on one side new tailpan

Hi guys, installation of new tailpan went pretty well. Also replaced the rear inner and outer light posts. All is well except my tailgate doesn't line up quite right. It is tight on the left with a gap on the right. See pics
I didn't do the artwork either BTW and plan on painting it anyways. I am waiting on one 3" body mount also and have temporarily stuffed 2 2x4s to give me the 3" to make the rear sit flat. The tailpan was rotten for a long time and the body sat crooked sagging in the right rear when I bought it. Maybe its tweaked? I need to do the rest of the floor but wanted to make sure the tail was straight first before more cutting.
I have played and played with the hinge bolts to shift it to the right.
Any ideas? Thanks ahead of time!

Also is the way the tailgate leans in when closed normal?

I see the gate is setting low on the both sides as the body lines and the gate lines are not lined up. The bottom of the gate set lower than the body.

The pillar should be attached to the tailpan piece with bolts. The design lets you loosen the bolts, move the pillar/quarter around and then tighten it down. I imagine a lot of help will be needed from straps or whatnot. Do you have a hardtop? That might help as an alignment jig.

The tailgate can also be adjusted up/down (in the closed position) by loosening the hinge bolts on the tailgate side. The tailgate can be moved a little side/side and in/out (at the bottom) by loosening the hinge bolts on the tailpan side.

Hi guys long time no see! I have been working on it all winter now. Got the pan in, new light posts, new rear floor. I had to fabricate the end to end support that the front of the rear floor bolts to and the boxes that support it. I'm pretty happy with the results. I'm working my way into the cab floor now. The rear cab mounts are shot. Bought them. However when I plasma cut the floor pan around it I found that they aren't long enough to remove all the rot and weld the new ends on. The rear cab support channel is spot welded to the floor from one side to the other (like an 18 ga c channel with a hump in the middle to match the driveshaft tunnel. I haven't seen that part completely for sale just the two side pieces on each end with the hole for the can mounts. Hmm... To be continued...
