Just when I think I'm getting some progress on this truck, something else happens.

So I'm making a pulley system to remove my top and had the tailgate down. I went to roll it up....all I hear is the spinning of the motor. I've swapped the rear glass before but I had the cable working for me.

I removed the cover and disconnected the cable from the motor. I tried to spin it so I could manually lift the window up. Well, the cable broke at the regulator, BEHIND the window!

I can't figure out how to get the window to go up in ANY way because the cable just spins and nothing.

I unscrewed the side channels, took both of the window felts strips out on the top side...still nothing. How do I get the window up??:dunno:

Can you get to the bolts on the bottom of the metal sash (the metal peice where the glass is attached to the machanism). It should be 4 bolts and then you can slide the glass right out.

I tried to get to those 4 bolts but it's just too tight from what I can tell. My 1/4" socket wrench is too big and an open ended wrench just doesn't make the angle. I can get the window to move side to side (because the channels are loose) but can't get it budge upward.

Anyway to get the regulator to move by pushing on the teeth? I tried but no movement.....unless there is some trick to it. :dunno:

Not sure about pushing on the teeth.. I pulled a little hard on glass before and it pulled out of the metal sash that it's mounted in. What about using your small 1/4 drive socket with one of those adapters from one of those tool kits with the screw driver that has all of the different bits and an open ended wrench? Not sure if that made sense.:dunno:

Good idea....I may just try a small vise grip on the socket and see if that works. I think I'm following you, thanks.

Cool, it worked! Thanks for the idea. I used a small vise grip and a socket to get the bottom 4 bolts out. Then it just slipped on out. Looking at my cable, it somehow just came out of the end fitting. I used a pipe clamp to get it re-attached firmly and now it works just great! Thanks EIB.
