tailgate window won't go up need help asap

Ok guys my buddy came over and put the window down in his 91 k5 while we where messing around in the driveway. Went to put it up and nothing can hear the motor click so we took off the inspection cover and when you hit the switch you can see the cable jump ? The sleeve of the cable is like a 1" down and when you hit the switch it will jump but noting else will happen? I think the cable maybe frozen So he is trying to thaw it to see if it wil move . Any other ideas to try and get it to go up? It's kinda cold to be drive with it down Oh and yes we did the switch jump trick and same thing.

have you checked the safety switch in the upper driverside of tailgate. try opening and closing the tailgate to make sure it is shut and not activating the safety switch. try disconnecting the draw cable at the motor and see if the cable can be spun by hand and if the motor will go in both directions.

Ok we got her used a small torch and heated the inside of the gate mainly where the big gear is.
