Good evening everyone, I am in the process of replacing the intake gaskets on my 91 blazer. I noticed that the ports on the bottom side of the intake manifold under the egr were completely clogged when I pulled it off. I have chipped away most of the crud in one port but it still doesn’t seem to go anywhere. Are these ports supposed to be open? EGR valve itself seems to be moving freely but just want to clear up what these ports are for and if they need to be clean through before I put it back together. Pics attached of both sides of the egr area of the manifold but the ports in question are the ones on the bottom side. Thanks.

the passages are not open to the intake gasket, only the heat riser in the center. Being in Kommiefornia you'll want to clean them out as best you can. spray some penetrate oil and see if/were it comes out. The oil will soften and make it easier to clean.

I ain’t in Kommiefornia. Don’t have to pass any inspections, just trying to get this thing running right. But are you saying those 2 ports should be a passage to the middle heat riser?

duh gonna need new glasses, On my phone I saw North California. Kindly dis regard, and delete the whole mess.
