I got a 350 out of a TBI, it has the hole for the fuel pump rod, my question is, does it have the lobe on the cam gear to move the fuel pump rod? Or do I need to pull the timing cover and put one on? It is sitting on the ground right now, so I haven't looked into the hole to see yet.

The lobe is just that, a lobe. It's part of the camshaft the same as any other lobe. I 'think' the lobe was left on the TBI cams but to make sure, just put your finger against the end of the pump rod and have someone turn the motor by hand. You'll feel it move in and out each revolution.

if you're looking to run throttle body injection with a mechanical fuel pump, i wouldn't bet on that working. first, the stock mech pump only puts out about half the psi that the tbi needs. also, even with a high-output mech pump, flow will be less consistent than with an electric because of the way it moves the fuel.

that said, if you manage to make tbi work with a mechanical fuel pump, i think that would be a cool "trick". you'd get points for originality.

Thanks brother , but Jason and I know this . He wants to put a TBI 350 into the truggy I sold him , but run a Quadrajet .

He has the motor minus intake , and a seperate Q-Jet and intake off a marine boat made for TBI heads :D

I'm not real certain but i know the one i pulled out of my Blazer was a TBI and someone converted to carb. I might be tearing it down soon but i'd think the lobe should still be there

Not tryin to hijack but they didn't make TBI 4 bolt mains did they?? Just a question i always wondered.

Yes they did, I had on in a 3/4 burb, and I pulled the pan to confirm. And yes, what paully said, I am running the tbi motor with a q-jet.

Ahh ok. I need a new lower end (rod through block) and this would be a good upgrade to look for ;)
