Teach me winch accesories

What's the deal with snatch blocks and other 'winch accesories' being different if you have synthetic or cable?? I know you can't use a cable-style snatch block with a synthetic rope 'cause it'll get bound up (or something like that). So what's the deal with this? What's the differences in 'em??

The only difference that I know of is the fairlead not being a roller fairlead for the synthetic. Your supposed to use a hawse fairlead, there are some nicee ones made of aluminum and hmmw(SP).

I know about fairleads, I'm refering to items like snatch blocks, savers, and the like.
