Man...... yesterday was a huge let down....
I've been down at the shop workin' on this thing for the past two days trying to get it ready for a shake down run at my buddies house in Plantersville and I was rewarded with a truck that still isn't ready...
Friday went great, nothing fought me and it seemed to literally fall together, got the radiator/trans cooler hard mounted, all of the wiring under the hood buttoned up, all the wiring in the cab finished, shifter finally solidly mounted.... literally got a laundry list of things finished...
Saturday....not so well...The mount I made for the fuel cell that fits together on the floor, doesn't want to line up once it's in the truck... Had me about ready to burn that turd to the ground...
Oh, and the trans is truely living on borrowed time. I dropped the pan to change a leaking gasket and toss a new filter in there, only to find a bunch of clutch material along with some alarmingly large brass bearing pieces... I've decided I'm going to run it till she dies, so I put the new filter/gasket in & gave it the old mechanics blessing so we'll see how long she lasts
After all this crap we fired it up, checked the trans (that surprisingly doesn't slip still and grabs every gear perfectly) & checked for leaks..
This is where it is giving me issues, it will idle/low rpm fine, but as soon as you rev it up past 3500 it wont come back to idle. It's acting like one of the weights inside the distributor is sticking or it has a large vacuum leak.
If I rev it and it hangs, I can shut off the motor, immediately start it back up and it idles normal again...
Any ideas?
