Well, I'm gonna swap my busted TH350/205 with a TH400/205 and thought I would throw up some pics.
[I figured out photobucket just for you guys]

I will be swapping rear outputs also, so I'll just show the lenght to the back of the T/case
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m5/fatbob2/TH350205LENGHT.jpg
TH350 bellhousing to back of T/case is just over 31"
TH400 bellhousing to back of T/case is about 34 1/2"
The TH400 to 205 adapter [figure 8 style] is 4" long
TH350 adapter is 3 1/2 inches long
The outputshaft on the Th350 sticks out about 3/4" from the case. They put a lot of different output shafts in those trannys. So if you take the rear housing off a two wheel drive tranny, and it only sticks out 3/4", you would be all set, if you use this adapter
TH400 sticks out 4 1/2" [the adapter is still on in the pic]
I did get my hands on a two wheel drive TH400 that had the same output shaft, so you can get lucky sometimes.
Now I wonder if anyone else has the measurements on the other 205 adapters, like that round patterned one on the newer trucks?
