I love begged borrowed acquired builds.

My tow rig is that.

My jimmy is that.

Horton is mostly that.

Only suggestion I have is be flexible. But you probably know that we'll enough. The other thing is save 500 bucks or so. That way when the deals are there you can jump on em.

Hey, long time no see! All due to my fault. Ran a few trails with you BB'11

Yep, I have a small slush fund for such acquisitions, and some leftover parts as well.

So, after talking with @63chevyII about spings and such, going with longer springs on the rear (as edited above, 58"). Planning on hanging those off of some ORD 2.5" flips with super shackles.

still planning on the 52" out back currently going up front. Likely going to do the ORD kit up there too. Fact is, too lazy to fab everything from scratch anymore!

Yup! pretty much how my 77 was created too!

Use a set of 2wd hangers for your shackle flip if you are looking to do it on the cheap.

Martin

Also, what ORD kit for the front?

On my 1990 Blazer, the front body mounts were removed from the frame (all three pieces still riveted to each other) and then swapped side for side. That is the cheapest way to do the 52" springs on the front. My front upper shackle hangers were still in the stock location.

Both things I what to do to mine! But I can`t afford the crossover steering.

Yes sorry i didn't specify, the ORD kit is the arm, histeer arm, draglink, ends, bolts for the knuckle, etc.
When I built the 72 I used a 2wd box with a cherokee arm machined to accept a 3/4" heim, machined my own histeer arms, built my own drag and tie rods from scratch. I no longer have free iron laying around or easy access to machine tools.

The front leaf spring business however will be all chop and flop.

Do crossover, skip the High Steer. DIY4X is now offering crossover steering, their prices are pretty reasonable.

I have considered that, but long run I will likely also go hydroassist, and i liked having that whole mess above the axle tube. I would have killed the last set up without histeer.

No doubt though DIY has some good stuff, had some of his parts on the '72.

One of the guys here on the board bought it, sounded like he was planning on wheeling it. I'm sure there will be some things he changes, but he was looking for something to beat :)

Not wheeling the rental this year?

Haha, you remember that? No more wheeling rentals for me. Bashing the bumper on a rental is more expensive than driving my own junk out. :)

Hey that was a good time! I'm going to try and push for BB16, hopefully we'll see you there

Agents of evil looking for parts, doing a little up keep . Cancer creeping in again, looking to cut most of it out and assess the sliders and mounts.

So I agree with just crossover no hi steer. I have 56s in front with assist. Too much stuff yup there. And I wheel only rocks. Make that tie rod super beefy. .250 wall is for mall crawlers
