the circle of leaf

I have parts from my original K5 project along with parts from several CK5ers.

The crew cab has the axles from my first K5 project and those axles came from a 79 K30 that @B_to_C calls the sledgehammer. He already had 1ton axles from his original K5 project that the K30 replaced.

I had also pulled the 700r4 from K5 and ran that in the crew cab 5 years. That trans came from @INTERCEPTOR who bought a K5 parts donor.

I also ran the NP241 from the K5 that originally came from @firefighter184's K5.

The NP205 coupled with the Magnum I'm running now has the fixed yoke output from the original NP205 in B_to_C's K30. The main part of the NP205 was a junkyard tcase from an '80.

The rear springs I'm running came from a member here but I can't remember his screenname.

The PRP seats in the front came from the K5. The middle rear seat was in the K5. I also have the DIY4x aluminum dash that I originally bought for the K5. I also have the DIY4x front tube doors that were originally used on the K5.

The hood I'm putting louvers in that will go on the crew cab was on the K5 project. Before that it was on an 87 parts Blazer I had purchased 10 or 11 years ago.

The dual battery setup and winch were originally on the K5. As was the Art Carr shifter.

I think the 454 is about the only swapped in component that wasn't in the K5 or from another CK5er. It was from a K30 parts truck.

Oh yeah, all my Autometer gauges started out in the K5.

That's all the stuff I can think of right now.

My front 52's and rear 56's are out of @mrk5's old K5. The TBI350/700r4 are out of a wrecked 89 K5 I bought for $900, robbed the motor/tranny and swapped into my K5 (tcase went to my dad's 84 Suburban), sold my original 700r4 that was in my K5 for $400, sold the 10 bolt axles for $200 along with misc. parts for another $200, then scrapped the rest of the truck for another $200 (I made money on my TBI swap, haha). My NP205 came out of a 72 suburban, but then I completely rebuilt it with the Titan box in front of it.

I've actually been thinking a lot about my "next build", and I think my plan is to pick up a pickup truck version of a square body, tube out the rear, narrow the front, exo-cage it, and literally swap all the parts from my current K5 into it (axles, springs, a-bomb bumper, tube doors, titan/205 case, etc.). But that will be after I beat my K5 up for a few more years probably.

This truck donated a lot of parts to other builds (1985 K30 Dually). I got the power steering pump and remote reservoir unit from it, and the left side battery tray. I might have gotten a couple of other small pieces from it that I cannot remember.

It's always fun recounting where these parts came from, and my dad, brother, and I have a good time reminiscing about their acquisition, assembly, and installation - the grief and the triumph.

One piece at a time...

What parts have you carried over to your current ride from a deceased one?

I guess I interpreted this different from a lot of folks, I took it to mean what parts on my current project are from MY previous project. Lots of parts on my Blazer are from CK5ers, Pirate, Ebay, etc but the parts listed in my first post were from my old K10 wheeler that I tore apart because my family outgrew it.

That was the idea

I’ve got a VIN, windshield frame and part of a firewall.....

It was never supposed to be like this.

The only thing 85 about mine is the tub. Hence the frankin5

Well, the original comment @AgDieseler made was in reference to my old K5 leaves being on @Kay86K5 rig now. So I figured we were following that same vein. :p:

Diffs, front drive shaft and some other odds and ends from the k20 found there way under the 97.
I got enough money from selling the rest off to pay for the sas, also the k20 got put back on the road. So not such a terrible story.
