some might call me CRAZY as i like to over build / do crazy idea's to build or fix stuff . so if you live life on the edge read on for this quick half day build project otherwise bye bye ......... :weapon11:

1 part : 100lb propane tank real old
1 part : 1.5x1.5x3/16" wall square tube
2 part : 3/4" pipe
1 part : 3/4" pipe flange qty
1 part : 3/4" coupler
1 part : 3/4" plug
2 part : 3/4" cap
some :hack::grind::weld: and here is what you get .

some of it might not be 100% square or perfect but who cares on this build for its 2-3 times a year use .

yes i vented it for over 2 years valve open and drained the oil from the bottom .

next step fill with water and try the roller out on the lawn after it stops raining .

I have a 36" wide early 1900s cast iron version. No idea what it weighs. I can barely move it on compacted dirt. Spent the afternoon yesterday dragging it around the front parking and driveway at my house. Had to regrade after I screwed the area up removing snow.

got the idea to fill it with used blasting media like black beauty or something . i have a friend who owns a blasting powder coat shop in the area . i am sure he would let me take his used media off his hands .

figure a 5 gal bucket of this has to be more than a 5 gal bucket of water . and there is a few buckets of water to fill this sucker .

yep its wet needs to dry out . but it was free and its old blasting media . . . i think he said aluminum oxide ? ? ?

5 buckets should get me good to go for full on the roller . and this weighs more than a 5 gal bucket of water would .

fyi make sure your 5 gal buckets are FULL to the top . it took every bit of the 5 buckets to fill this thing up . i prob could have packed a bit more in but oh well .

i did find a use for some old anti-freeze mix from some motors i drained ........... lets just say any water left in the blasting media wont freeze anytime soon .

and she is one HEAVY pig for lawn rolling .

local utility line truck left me a 20-25ft long rut in my lawn today at the edge of the road .

fired up the roller behind the john deere and 4-5 passes and she is flat again . :waytogo:

lawn roller = 1
5 ton utility truck = 0
