The free 03 Trailblazer.

Just wait till you need to pull the engine. The front differential passes through the oil pan haha

Lol! Yeah I know... Larry on here did one not to long ago, don't think he was to impressed either! :doah:

Glad it came out well for you!

Thank you! I asked the rebuilder everything you told me to ask and he knew all about it. I got no way of telling what he did to the valvebody but it does seem to shift great!

Time will tell I guess!??

Ever since we got this TB it would idle erratically...with the air on it would stall out. Some Googleing and a easy fix!

Dirty throttle body...

Nice and clean now! Runs smooth and idles at 600 just like it should.

Well is doesn't burn any?

Being dirty like that is a comon problem on these...so I have read on the Internet.

Great job Dean
Way to work a deal buddy
I've had the same carbon? Buildup on my 6.0 too
Did you clean the MAF also?
Made a big difference in idle quality for me.
Now imagine if you will...my cylinder head guy built that engine and ran 7.70 with it in a dragster! On carbs, normally aspirated and racing gas.
To me that's amazing as in 1965 top fuel dragsters with blown hemis on nitro only ran 7.75

With a 4.2 six!? Unreal!
Funny thing, these have 275 hp /275 tq it goes good!

03 Trailblazer doesn't have a MAF Looks like they started using them on some 05s and up.

Yes and it was only 242 ci as well
He said that head would outflow most BBC heads and he spun it to 10k rpm.

The build up of oil can be fixed with adding a catch can, especially on a 6.0. The pcv location sends the blow by back into the throttle body. Put a catch can in the middle of that and its gone.

The early trailblazers are speed density tuned like the older cars, its about the only gm vehicle that was done like this from 02 till now. I would imagine it has a map sensor tho on the intake.

Same problem with my traverse. I added a moroso catch can, and have had no issues since then. Whats worse is in the middle of the winter when the throttle body throws a code, and you can't get up hills due to limp mode.

Really how nice! Does it have the same engine Jess?

Been awhile...still shifting good! Had some electrical trouble with the car but that is fixed now.

So now the transfer case is screaming for attention seems to me that the bearing in the transfer case need to be replaced.

Two wheel drive makes no noise, four wheel high makes some noise, like a howling electric motor growling type of sound, four wheel low sound like its going to blow up!

It is full of oil...the right GM auto track blue stuff.

Googled it a bunch and found that there has been lots of trouble with the 226hd auto track Tcase in TBs and worn out bearings.

The guy I got it from said it was replaced once under warranty.

Any one have any luck rebuilding one of these!?

Dan has another big block, Gangrene has a SM 465...

Might be worse on fuel, but she'd be there first every day. lol
