The Green Machine - parked

You say it bogs down, also that it stumbles. Is it more like a bumping or intermittent miss of the engine at low RPM when under a load? Like when going up hill? If so, I think its still ignition related. I've fought with this twice in the past on these engines. The first time it was plug wires. And they happen to be new wires, but were not AC Delco and only made it about 500 miles before the intermittent miss started. The other time was the rotor. Had the exact same symptoms. Replaced it, and the problem cleared up. Since you have already done cap and rotor, then you mite look at your wires.

It's more of an intermittent miss that gets worse until I give it gas until it down shifts, then it clears up and pulls strong. I did the wires last year with the spark plugs, and I used ACDelco or Accel, can't remember which, but they were not the cheap ones from O'Really's.

Little update:

I got tired of the soggy diaper look, otherwise known to idiots as the Cali lean, so I installed some 1.5" lift blocks to counter that. I was afraid it might sit too high in the rear, but that is not the case, if anything, the stance is now even more business.

Also, a few weeks back I busted out the rear quarter window on a gate post, and found a replacement glass at the junkyard and had it installed. $150 total for that bad idea.

Nice! The stance does look better. Mine is starting to sag too, But i still need to install my zero rates. I'm going to move my axle back an inch too in order to keep the tire away from the front edge of the fender.

I need to move my axle back as well.

Got on the throttle this evening and noticed a puff of blue smoke come out the tail pipe. :frown1: the inevitable is coming...

One day...

Where I work has dozens if not hundreds of 15 passenger vans, most are Fords, but about a third of them are Chevy's or GMC's, and the later model years come with the 6.0 and 6 speed transmission. I'm going to keep an eye out for when they go on auction when they hit 100k miles.

I say that if you're not adding a quart of oil every time you fill the tank with gas, then the motor is fine :thumb:. Don't sweat a little bit of blue smoke. Run that 5.7 Vortec as far as it will go!
