So... the wife is getting tired of my old truck nickle and diming me. She has given me the go ahead to start looking for something more reliable. I have always wanted a cucv but know very little about the engine and system itself. I have had k5s in the past and love the platform but she has also mentioned that our family aint getting smaller so a suburban may be the ticket. What are yalls opinions on both? What are the forseeable pros and cons? All the info will be taken into consideration. Thanks in advance

Too true, but i cant see myself driving anything else( except our nissan sentra) :) but the truck is just going to be our farm truck so something more reliable is in need.

All square bodies are nickel-and-dime trucks.... :dunno:

Ain't that the truth.

When you say farm truck, what do you mean exactly? Can you get by with stock drivetrain, ride height and smaller tires? Are you towing moderately heavy loads? Or do you need a family cruiser that does occasional trips to the feed store?

My initial thought is to try to find a mid-to-late 90's 'Burb in nice shape, but will an IFS truck fit your work needs?

I was going to buy a Blazer when my wife told me we were having a baby but she talked me into a Suburban. Now we're expecting #2 and I'm so glad I bought this thing because of all of the support gear one kid has let alone two. :doah:

With gas prices surging upward again, you should be able to find a pretty good deal. Try to hold out for a 1991 3/4 ton if you can because that's the first year a 3/4 ton got the 4l80 overdrive tranny. Previous year 3/4 ton's had a TH400. I've got a 1/2 ton and even though I'm extremely happy with it, sometimes I wish I had a 3/4 ton.

I just mean drive around my property and maybe to pick up things that i need a truck for. Its already pretty built up but just keep javing issues with it and cant really depend on it as much anymore :(

I would love a 3/4 ton but i need to be able to pull stuff like wheels and tires off the truck for the suburban. Ive been looking at a 91 up in denver but its too far for me to just drive to look. Been looking locally but no real deals yet.

There was a real nice and cheap 91 burb in UT, not that far from you, and it was cheap enough too.
Let me see if the thread is still there, he got discouraged because no one showed interest. I think he was asking $1200 for it.
