Thoughts on a body lift

Okay so I just installed my 33's and it looks like im going to need a lift. For a body lift I am thinking 1-3 inches would look okay...Dont really want to spend a lot on a suspension lift. Any pics of your body lifts would be great! Also is this an easy DIY project or take it to someone to have it done?

If doing a 1" body lift, that would be an excellent time to upgrade to urethane body mounts. http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/bodymounts.htm

I have done the 1" body lift and urethane mounts, and 1" suspension lift with the axle moved 1" forward on my CUCV M1008 (similar to a K30 1ton pickup). Am running tires that measure 33" actual height that rubbed on the rear of the front fender. Minor trimming cured the problem. With more trimming tires of 35" actual height would fit.
 
I got a 3 inch, prob wouldnt do it again. It put alot of stress on the core support. It cracked both mounts off the get go. But once i welded em up its been fine ever since :dunno:
 
1" ord or diy4x body lift. then new poly bushing kit to match.

then 1" zero rate front and rear. and move axle up 1" in the front. also check and replace frame bushings for shackles on front leaf springs. if you never have i beet there toast and this lets the front sag a bit also.

my buddy had 6" lift and 1.5" body lift ( 6061 aluminum ) and his 38" tsl hit the fenders at firewall. he used zero rate in the front and moved ahead 1.5" and TONS of room now.
 
I have never (PERSONALLY) seen any but one problem with a 3in. I have ran one on ever truck I have ever had, and same with all my friends. The ones that I seen have problems were directly caused by bolts not being kept tight and the body moving around on the mounts. Causing cracked core supports and such. Alot of people complain about the gaps between the frame, yet they have hacked fenders and destroyed doors..... I love the gaps for ease of washing everything, tightening certain bolts, doing any work on the drivetrain, extra cheap lift.

We did my Suburban in my driveway, a pickup is even easier. Just do one at a time, and dont tighten anything down until they are all in, and you line the body lines back up.
 
Watch out for fan shroud clearance and shift linkage adjustments.

with a 1" body lift, fan shroud trimming is usually required, but shift linkage is usually OK. 2" and higher body lifts will require more adjustments.
 
Don't do a 3" body lift, I had one and now a 1" ORD body lift. Much easier to do and looks better.
