Alright so christmas is over so now it is time for me to build my toy...however I would like to make it street legal and in order to do that I have to register it...the parts truck that I bought is an 85 K5 junker that I paid $200 for with no title :doah: so now I need a VIN and a title...so I guess the question I am asking is how do I do this legally...I thought about just buying a rusted out piece of crap for SUPER CHEAP with the title and using the VIN...will this work and does anyone have one for sale..I guess it could be a ball of rust as long as maybe the firewall is good and it is around an 85...any help or suggestions would be appreciated

wouldn't it be easier to title the non-titled vehicle?

you're trying to do something illegal, legally. good luck with that.:wink1:

I have a 1939 truggy I am building. Had a VIN, no title. Did a search and found the owner from 1983. He went and got a new title in his name and signed it over. I gave him $50 and a case of beer.

Doing it my self would have needed an inspection, a bond and 6 months of not knowing if somebody would claim they own the truck.

All for that. Getting the title from a previous owner is alot less hassle!!! Got a car for my last girlfriend and when we went to title it, found out it was out of state and no one had titled it in 2 years. After 3 months of messing with the DMV and state patrol to title it, finally found the last owner and he got a new title and signed it over. There are good honest people out there.
