I'm gonna be buying some new tires for my blazer soon, just wondering whet types of tires everyone likes. I've got 35x12.50x15 bfg all terrians and there not very good for traction in mud snow or even rain.

I will mainly be using the truck to drive on the highway and around town in snow, rain, ice and occasional off roading in mud or just minor rocky trails. I've looked at the pro comp xtreme mt2 and the hankook dynapro mt and they both look like a decent tire.

Any suggestions on tires that you guys are successful with?

Personally, I look on craigslist and find whatever used but in good shape tire fits my rim and size requirements. lol

it's too damn expensive to buy large tires, the prices are ridiculous.

Though they have been bitch slapped on CK5, I still contend my Dad's pro comp standard m/t tires have done well, especially for a CCLB Dmax. Quieter than the Nitto M/t tires that look similar. Decent tread life as well. My mickey thompson claws have been going great on the front of the blazer. The toyo's are ok, but I got mine when they were already very old, so they are kinda hard.

i am the same way, i get them off craigslist. No way im paying 2500 bucks for a set of tires.

For the ice a M/T will not provide decent traction. They have very little if any sipping. Same goes for the rain. You want a good contact patch so a high void tire is not they way to go. The hankook tire you posted does however have the built in ability to be studded. The snow I preferred an a/t if the snow compacts well and or is slushy. The rocks can go many of ways for instance if you ride on sandstone you want a lot of contact not a big gap tire. On the other hand if you have lots of ledges you might prefer a big lug to pull you over but as a downfall a very aggressive tire will tend to slide from side to side like a bogger or baja claw. The mud needs a tire that cleans well. To sum it up the bfg a/t tire you have is the best all around tire I have ever run. As an alternative I would suggest a mickey Thompson ATZ.

Check some COOPER Tires.

Im running M/T Baja Radials, they are fine but expensive and dont wear that well, dont care what they advertise. Ive got 50% tread with only 10k miles on them and they stay properly inflated and rotated.

Ya mickey Thompson's are expensive and don't have very good wear. I've got a set of bias ply claws. Worst tire I have ever run. Still have 90% tread after 5 plus years but the only thing they see other than dirt is the trailer deck. Great for cactus patches though. I do like the cooper tires but never ran any or knew someone that had. Buddy put 20k on some mickey ATZ's before selling with tread that would still pass inspection. Had good wear on some toyo at mounted on a tacoma sucked in mud though. Pops had em on a duramax got 10-15k.

I run 315/75-16 maxxis mudders on my K5. I was considering going to the BFG AT next time, as I drive mostly on pavement and mild dirt roads. Sand, loose dirt, ice, and rain are more likely for me than mud. The BFG's also wear very well on my 79 C20 and they should be more quiet in the cab of the K5.

I did notice that the 33" BFG AT's got hard as they aged on my pickup. For the last 6 months or so, it has been a piece of cake to break them loose with the loud pedal. They also didn't grip loose moist dirt very well, but I had all my toolboxes off the truck, so the rear had no weight on it. My new 33" BFG AT's seem very soft and almost sticky compared to the old ones. I haven't driven it much since I got new tires due to the engine and trans having to come out. My pickup has a 14bff with an open diff, and it is a 2wd truck, well really a one legger, so it is hard to judge traction with it.

Ok thanks for all the advice on tires and what kind you guys run. I'm still pretty interested in the procomp xtreme mt2 but definetly don't wanna spend 1200 on tires. I can never find decent 35's on craiglist around southern pa. If anyone knows of any let me know

Yea right now I'm running the 35" BFG all terrains. There probbly 10 years old though and there dry rotted. The traction in mud snow even rain completely sucks they spin so easy I don't know if the age of the tire would affect traction. I have stock as far as I know jasper 350 with a th400 trans and stock 10 bolt rear with what I think is 3.73 gears.

I'm really looking to find an aggressive tire that is good all around and decent price

I have 33x9.50R15 Dean Mud Terrain SXT's on my Blazer, and atleast off road they are probably some of the best tires I've ever had, Right up there with Baja claws and BFG all terrains.
But they are terrible on the road, noisy, they don't respond quickly, they lean and slide. Although most of that can probably be attributed to the fact that they are tall and narrow. And they look terrible, they look like they are tucked way under the truck.

I plan on getting another set of tires for better on-road behavior and look better.
I have a pair of 33x10.50R15 BFG all terrains, I just need to get the money to get another pair.

Oh yea that's a pretty narrow tire to run on a blazer. Mine are 12.50 wide and only front tires barely stick out. I've never heard of that company dean though. I'm still looking around at different prices. Still hard to find what I'm looking for on craigslist

They are owned by Cooper, so basically they're Cooper's.

I really want to get something that is a 12.50, but the widest 15 inch rim tires I have are those two 33x10.50 BFG's

On my F-250 I have a set of oddball General Grabber AT2's, they are like 32x11.50R16, but they are 16's

You say you've had a lot of problems with BFG all terrains, that really surprises me, I've always had really good luck with them.
They would be hands down the best all around tire I've ever had.
Out-performing almost anything I've seen, in almost anything.
Those General's are a very similar tread pattern, and they have almost 12,000 miles on them and still look almost new, and have never been stuck.

Yea my bfg all terrains are like 10 years old though they seem like there hard and there dry rotted and starting to crack. I don't know if that has anything to do with the traction. In snow and mud they haven't been very good because they don't seem to clean themselves out. Its like they turn into slicks. Then in rain I can spin tires just about an where its almost hard to keep from not spinning tires when pulling out on a slight up hill slope.

I've never ran any other tires on it but these so I'm not sure if any other tires would be any better. It might also be how wide the tires are that screws up my traction in rain or snow.

I had bfg A/Ts once. Never again. Not too bad on a wet road, great on dry road, white knuckle and pucker if I hit a puddle. Those were the most hydro-planing tires I have ever had. No off-roading but I'd say good in dry dirt - nothing wet.

bfg m/t great on dry road, good in mud, didn't hydro-plane much, sucked on wet.

Current tires are Michelin 11x16. Pretty Good on dry, Great in mud, sucks on wet roads, no hydroplane.

If I was trying for snow, wet, etc I would go with a passenger/truck tire. I was going for wet road tires for my firebird and got Cooper Zeon ZS3-A. Can;t say enough good about them on wet roads.

Fwiw, I have 33" Hankook Dynapro A/T's on my Dodge and they suck because I cannot get them vibration free. I know you're looking at the M/T's but I'm just sayin.

I have had BFG All-Terrain T/A on my Blazer since 2006 and they were fine in NW ohio winters and have been good here in Colorado since 2009. Snow, mud, rocks and highway.

The Suburban has Big-O A/T tires on it now but they will be getting replaced with either Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac or another set of BFG since I have contacts and a prior relationship with BFG. I want Goodyear since that was what was on the original Dante's Peak truck but they do not make the MT any more for it.

I had BFG Radial T/As on my 1980 Z-28 and liked them even in the rain. What you get is up to you but either BF Goodrich or Goodyear in my humble opinion.

Had several generations of bfg at tires... Never ever had an issue with them, rain or shine.

Have run bfg mt tires, both the old style and newer km2 versions. Didn't wear as well as the at tires did, but not terrible.

If you can find them (bfgs) in the size you need, get them. They are the longest lasting tires I've run.

Ditto I put the 6,800 miles on them and then another 13,000 still good.

Id have to second this. The only issue i had with the ATs over the MTs was that they would pack up in sticky mud. But i guess on the flip side MTs will really dig in deep snow and sand which can certainly cause some issues... oh and the ATs have much better road manners.
