toasted calipers bushing, what could\'ve caused it?

I was wrenching on my truck tonight and noticed that the lower capliper bushing on the drivers side was shot and the bolt was backed out about a 1/3" could the caliper bolt backing out have caused the bushing to self-destruct?

Caliper as in brake caliper? Mud kills them suckers fast. I have to replace them a couple times a year. First time I went looking for them the Pep Girls told me the only way to get them was with new calipers. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
You have to aske for a Brake Hardware kit. It comes with the bushings and the metal retainer clip for the piston side pad. Like $4. They also have a special grease to put on those bushings that helps them last longer.

Does that kit come with the O rings for the bushings that go into the caliper housing? Those are what I am looking for. Mine are worn out and I need new ones

Yep all the o-rings I think it has everything but the pins. you have to get those seperate.

Thanks Grim...I think what happened is that the brake caliper bolt backed out a bit and when I hit the brakes hard the bushing self-destructed...I bought the caliper hardware kit from Napa for like 4 bucks...it takes care of one caliper for me...thak man...
