I think you are right about the truck being dismantled for its cool parts - a shame too, it worked great.

But the song is a little off - opening scene song is “The heat is on” sung by Glenn Frey and the song playing a few minutes later during the Truck chase scene is “Neutron Dance” by the Pointer Sisters; “A-Foley” wasn’t played until later in the movie.
Good guess though so points are still given; after all it’s been almost 40yrs. since that movie came out ! Damn that hurts to say , 40 years ago…

Truck is an 1980 model with a kind of “Screaming Chicken” sticker decal on the hood to go along with what Pontiac was doing at the time with the T/A’s .

Alright, @fourwheelerjeff is in the lead but several of the remaining pics are a little tougher to get so they are all triple points.
A few hints in no particular order:
3 of Burt Reynolds films are represented by some of these pics and one of them the body of the truck was reversed so it could drive backwards at highway speeds….and the guest star played for the Pittsburg Steelers
The passenger in the 1980 GMC General is a hound dog named Fred….
One pic was a mechanics working truck that hung out with a couple of good ole boys…
One was driven by Clint Eastwood…
One was driven by an actor who goes by a different last name than his more famous brother and father. And in this sequel film he plays an undercover cop and is basically “hanging around” as undercover cops do from time to time…
One truck was running from an invasion….
One truck was driven taken place on the last day of high school in 1976….
And one truck was being covered in volcanic ash…
And quoting one of these pics should be memorized by anyone over the age of forty…the movie was more of a documentary of the south/east in the 70’s…

I know the actor is Emilio Estevez in Another Stakeout. He was also in Loaded Weapon, a parody of Lethal Weapon movies. When he went in his travel trailer the scene shot inside to a palatial mansion
