Hey All!

As many of you know, I re - opened my recruiting business as of the first of the year. As an added service, I am available to construct or overhaul resumes and cover letters, as well as provide interview coaching.

I am offering this resume service to the CK5 brotherhood, and I am doing so at drastically lower prices than what I have on my company website, and lower than the quotes I've given out here previously.

This thread lays out who I am and what I do, and I'll post up info that will be a resource for both the job seeker, and the happily employed.

WHY ARE YOUR PRICES LOWER NOW?

This economy sucks.. every day guys are being blindsided by job loss, or, they're stressing out about rumors of job loss.

In a perfect world, everyone would dig their well before they got thirsty, and invest in themselves by keeping their resumes up to date, but the bottom line is, nobody PLANS to be let go, and the first priority is always keeping ones head above water.

Our new pricing plan reflects this reality.

HOW DO YOU JUSTIFY CHARGING UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE?

This is a touchy subject - the fact is, I put an average of eight hours into each resume I do, and that often doesn't include the time spent getting to know you..I can sit for an hour, thinking up your "objective" alone.

I end up crafting something that will pay off dividends down the road, and you'll basically make up my cost during your first few days of employment.

To do it for free means I have no stake in the matter - I like to earn the money I am entrusted with, and I earn that by doing quality work.

WHY SHOULD I TRUST YOU?

There are a few CK5 members who it has been my privilege to help, and their testimonials are on my website.

I have been a recruiter ( or headhunter) since 1996. Even during my time with ACES, I never stopped doing resumes and interview coaching. rather than deal in theoretical BS about what a resume should look like, I have live fire experience in evaluating resumes, screening candidates, and guiding the interview process. I know what a good resume looks like, and most importantly, I know what a bad one looks like.

WHAT DO I GET FOR MY MONEY?

Initial consultations are free. Once I evaluate your resume and come back with my recommendations, I will quote you the flat fee for making the changes.

I require half up front before I start, ( via paypal ), with the remainder due upon completion, and the remainder is only payable if and when you are satisfied with the end product.

The goal is for you to be comfortable with how I'm explaining "you" on paper. We'll trade emails throughout the process, and you'll end up with a tailor made document you can use for any opportunity you are pursuing.

I also throw in ( at no extra charge) cover letter templates that you can use in your job search.

I CAN READ AND WRITE, WHAT DO I NEED YOU FOR?

Most people are very good at what they do. What can be difficult for some, is communicating their value to someone who doesn't know them, and to communicate that value under the pressure of a job search.

It's hard to decide what to include, and what to leave out...and you still have to figure out the best way to word stuff.

Bottom line - I can't guarantee a job for anyone, but I know how much is riding on your ability to present yourself well. I treat this as serious business.

Are you in the right line of work for your personality type?

Here's a nifty personality assessment tool used by the pros.

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

officially, it's called The Jung Typology/Myers-Briggs Test

Once you finish and click the "score it" button, you'll get a description of your personality type, and some ideas as to the type of work you are suited to.

Funny this came up. I was just thinking about lookin in to books for helping with inteviews. I likely have 2 inteviews comming up in Late August, early September. I am a tradesman and will be inteviewed for two different supervisory positions within the corp. I work for. The interviews will be conducted by managers and HR reps. It is unlikely there will be questions on my trade. I'm wondering what they will be asking.I'm not sure I'm prepared. Can you help in this sort of situation?

For you job seekers out there..

Here's a neat site that was brought to my attention.

It's 100% free, and doesn't ask you to register, so you won;t get spammed.

It's a search engine for jobs that are posted directly on the employers website. Just type in some simple search terms, and away you go.
